Looking for a talented freelance copy editor to help prepare manuscripts for publication. This is a flexible, project-based gig that is ideal for an experienced editor, graduate student, educator, writer, or retired publishing professional. Responsibilities include: Copyediting for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and consistency Improving sentence flow and readability while preserving the author’s voice Identifying repetitive, awkward, or overly formulaic language Detecting and smoothing language that feels obviously AI-generated or unnatural Ensuring a consistent tone and style throughout the manuscript Flagging unclear statements, inconsistencies, or areas that may need author clarification Preparing a polished manuscript ready for publication Ideal candidate: Excellent command of English, strong attention to detail, and the ability to edit without making a manuscript sound overly “edited.” Experience with academic, professional, nonfiction, or psychology-related manuscripts is a plus.
