Social Media Manager (with short-form video editing) for UK Training & standards body
Worldwide
Federation of Damp is the independent UK training and standards body for damp, mould and waterproofing professionals. We have 200+ independently vetted members, 650+ certified professionals, a public register, a Code of Conduct, and courses that are City & Guilds Assured. We're growing quickly and have specialists in place for paid ads, SEO, PR, and LinkedIn outreach. Social is the gap. Posting has been ad hoc using AI with no strategy. We need someone to own it and make us look like what we are: a credible, professional organisation. What you'll do - Build and run a monthly content plan. Priority order: LinkedIn (company page plus the founder's profile), YouTube and YouTube Shorts, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. - Edit our large backlog of video (training footage, site footage, talking-head) into branded short clips with captions. New footage is being filmed regularly - Write for three audiences: trade professionals (surveyors, contractors, technicians), housing providers and landlords, and homeowners. Homeowner content matters: educational posts on spotting damp problems, avoiding bad advice, and why to use a vetted professional from our public register. Homeowner trust is what makes membership valuable to the trade. - First job: audit every profile and bio so our description, figures and branding are identical and accurate across all platforms. - Build consistent branded and a recognisable look - Plan content around key industry dates, including Awaab's Law milestones - Showcase members and membership benefits: member spotlights, the report tool, badges and the public register - Work alongside our PR consultant, ads agency and email marketing: amplify press coverage, supply your best organic clips as ad creative, and feed content into the newsletter - Manage comments and DMs every working day, handling negative or hostile comments calmly under an agreed response policy (one factual reply at most, never argue) - Help structure and moderate our member WhatsApp community - Grow a relevant following of industry people and decision-makers, not vanity numbers Technical content policy - Educational content is encouraged, but every technical claim is approved by us before posting. We don't take sides in contested industry debates on social, don't promote specific treatments, products or brands, and don't name competitors. Monthly deliverables - 12-16 short-form video clips edited from our footage - 16-20 posts across platforms (clips count towards this), split across the three audiences - Comments and DMs checked and answered every working day - WhatsApp community: one planned prompt or discussion a week, plus moderation - Monthly report and next month's content plan, submitted in batches for approval What we'll measure (targets agreed together after month one, reviewed at 90 days) - Follower growth among relevant audiences, LinkedIn company page especially - Engagement rate and video views - Clicks through to the website, register and course pages Response time on comments and DMs What we're looking for - Proven experience running social for a B2B, trade, training or membership organisation (construction, property or housing is a big plus) - Strong short-form video editing (CapCut, Premiere or similar), with examples required - Excellent written UK English - Experience managing a brand that gets criticism online - Comfortable working within strict brand and compliance guidelines. Claims must be accurate and certain wording is fixed (full guidelines provided) - Organised and self-directed: you bring the plan, and we approve it Details - Ongoing monthly retainer (fixed fee) for the deliverables above, starting with a paid one-week trial: a content plan plus 3 edited clips from our footage To apply, please answer: Share 2-3 accounts you've managed and the results you got. Share 3 short-form clips you edited yourself. How would you handle a run of hostile comments on a post? Looking at our current channels, what's the first thing you'd change? Have you managed social for a technical or regulated industry where posts needed expert sign-off? How did you keep the pace up? Your monthly fee for the scope above.
