Job Description: Social Media Manager/Video Editor for Cat Behavior Business About the Business We run a professional cat behavior consulting practice offering behavior modification, litter box issue resolution, multi-cat and new kitten introductions, veterinarian and cat café partnerships, public speaking, conferences, group workshops, and Empathy and Animal Workshops for youth (ages 6–18) in schools. Consultations are offered both in person and internationally via Zoom. We are looking for a social media manager to build our online presence, demonstrate our expertise, and drive bookings across platforms. Project Overview We need someone to film (or help direct filming of), edit, caption, post, and schedule video and photo content across social platforms on an ongoing, recurring basis. This is an ongoing content role, not a one-time project. Scope of Work Film short-form videos (with the business owner/consultant on camera) covering topics such as: litter box troubleshooting, introducing a new cat or kitten, cat body language and stress signals, myth-busting common cat behavior advice, behind-the-scenes of consultations (with client permission), and youth empathy program highlights Edit raw footage into polished short-form videos (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) including captions/subtitles, trimming, pacing, background music, and on-screen text Edit longer-form content (YouTube videos, webinar/workshop recordings, conference talk highlights) as needed Repurpose long-form content (a workshop or speaking engagement recording) into multiple short clips Write engaging captions and select relevant hashtags for each platform Post and schedule content consistently across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn for veterinary and professional audiences) Maintain a content calendar and posting schedule Monitor comments and DMs related to content, and flag booking inquiries or media opportunities to the business owner Track basic performance metrics (views, engagement, follower growth) and report monthly on what content is performing best Maintain a consistent visual brand (colors, fonts, intro/outro style, logo placement) across all content Content Categories to Cover Educational content: litter box issues, medical vs. behavioral red flags, kitten and multi-cat introductions Authority-building content: clips from conferences, public speaking engagements, and workshops Trust-building content: client testimonials and success stories (with permission), behind-the-scenes of the consulting process Youth program content: highlights from Empathy and Animal Workshops in schools, aimed at parents, teachers, and school administrators Partnership-facing content: material aimed at veterinarians and cat cafés considering a referral or collaboration relationship Community/engagement content: Q&A videos, myth-busting, trending audio adapted to cat behavior topics Required Skills Proven video editing skills (CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar) Experience growing a social media account, ideally in a coaching, consulting, pet, or education-related niche Strong understanding of short-form platform best practices (hook structure, pacing, captions, trending audio) Basic filming skills (lighting, framing, audio quality) if assisting with in-person shoots, or ability to work well with footage the business owner films independently Comfortable handling sensitive content thoughtfully (e.g., hoarding-related material, if ever covered, requires a careful, non-judgmental tone) Strong writing skills for captions and video scripts/hooks Familiarity with scheduling and posting tools (Later, Buffer, Metricool, or native schedulers) Reliable communication and ability to meet a consistent posting schedule Preferred (Not Required) Experience with pet, veterinary, or animal-related content Experience with education or youth-program-related content Experience editing webinar, conference, or public speaking footage Basic graphic design skills (Canva or similar) for thumbnails and static posts Working Arrangement Remote position; footage can be shared via cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox) if not filmed in person Ongoing, recurring engagement — please specify availability and typical weekly turnaround time Some filming may occur in person locally, and some content will come from recorded workshops, conferences, and Zoom consultations (with client permission) Deliverables An agreed number of short-form videos per week (e.g., 3–5 per week to start) An agreed number of long-form videos per month (e.g., 1–2) A monthly content calendar A monthly performance report Timeline [Insert your target start date] Budget [Insert your budget range — per-video rate, monthly retainer, or hourly rate] How to Apply A portfolio or links to social accounts you have grown or edited content for, ideally with before/after growth numbers 2–3 examples of short-form video edits you are proud of Your recommended posting cadence and platform priority for a new coaching/consulting business Your rate structure (per video, weekly, or monthly retainer) and typical turnaround time Any clarifying questions about the scope above
