Sound Designer Needed for 5 Interactive Audio Events – Immersive Gaming / Escape Room
Worldwide
**Sound Designer Needed for 5 Interactive Audio Events – Immersive Gaming / Escape Room** We are looking for a creative sound designer to produce **5 short, high-impact interactive audio events** for an immersive gaming experience in the Netherlands. The venue is a dark, atmospheric game environment where groups of players move through the space. During the game, unexpected audio events should make players physically react: duck, freeze, seek cover, stay silent, etc. We already have the concepts and scripts. We need someone who can turn them into convincing, cinematic experiences using **voice, sound effects, bass/impact and spatial audio**. ### The 5 events **1. Flood Wave** A system voice warns about pressure loss and a damaged water pipe. Pipes start cracking, water pressure builds, the pipe bursts and the voice suddenly shouts: “FLOOD WAVE! DUCK! NOW!” A massive wave then appears to rush through the room, followed by an impact and water draining away. **2. Electrical Overload** Electrical humming builds, followed by sparks and electrical discharges. The system orders players: “DON’T MOVE!” Several powerful electrical impacts follow. These will later be synchronized with DMX strobe flashes. **3. Something Is in the Room** Movement is detected. Heavy footsteps approach from behind the players. The system tells them to remain completely silent. Breathing and scratching sounds come extremely close before the creature suddenly moves through the room. This event should rely heavily on suspense and spatial positioning. **4. Structural Collapse** A distant impact is followed by cracking metal and falling debris. The system warns of structural failure and orders: “AGAINST THE WALL! NOW!” A large cinematic collapse follows with concrete, steel, debris and deep bass impacts. **5. Emergency Protocol 25** The biggest event. An alarm starts, followed by: “Critical system failure. Emergency Protocol 25 activated. SEEK COVER!” A countdown from 5 to 1 builds tension, followed by a short moment of complete silence and then a massive energy discharge/explosion. ### Voice We need a consistent **Dutch system/computer voice** throughout all events. The voice should feel professional, serious and cinematic — not like a cheap robot/TTS voice. We can provide/finalize all Dutch scripts. ### Deliverables For each event we would like: * Finished cinematic reference mix * Separate WAV files/stems for voice and major sound effects * High-quality WAV format * Clean files without unwanted background noise * Clear timing/timestamps * Suggestions for exact moments where lighting/strobe effects should trigger We will import the individual audio files into our own show-control software and program the DMX lighting ourselves, so **you do not need to program our DMX system**. Spatial movement is important. We have **multiple speakers in the room**, so effects such as a wave moving through the space or footsteps approaching from behind should be designed with this in mind. Please advise how you would best deliver the spatial/stereo elements for playback. ### Style Think: **Escape room × horror attraction × cinematic game audio × theme park experience** The events should feel believable and immersive rather than cheesy. Most events will be approximately **10–20 seconds long**. ### When applying Please send: * Examples of relevant sound design work * Preferably horror, gaming, escape room, theme park or immersive audio * Your suggested approach * Your price for producing all 5 events * Expected turnaround time We are specifically looking for someone who can **design the complete experience**, not simply download a few stock sound effects and place them together. There may be additional audio events to produce if this first set works well.
