Sound Designer (SFX + Ambience) for Tech Explainer Videos

Summary

Pilotbyte produces professional tech education content in the commercial drone and geospatial space: YouTube videos, online course lessons, and corporate training material. Our videos lean heavily on screen recordings, animated explainers, and motion graphics. The picture side is strong. The audio side needs a specialist. What we need We are looking for a sound designer who can take a locked, picture-edited video and build the entire sound layer underneath it. Not music selection alone, and not just a cleanup pass on the voiceover. We mean the actual sound design: the sounds that make a UI element feel like it clicked, a callout feel like it landed, a data set feel like it is loading, and a scene feel like it has space around it. Specifically: SFX for motion graphics: pop-ons, builds, reveals, counters, lower thirds, line draws, map and point cloud animations Transitions: whooshes, risers, swells, impacts, cuts between sections UI and screen-recording sound: clicks, toggles, hovers, notifications, processing and loading states Ambience and room tone: subtle beds that give a scene depth without competing with the narration Occasional foley for hardware b-roll: drone props spinning up, cases opening, controllers, tripods, latches Final mix and delivery so the whole thing sits together cleanly under a voiceover The style bar This is the most important part of this post, so please read it carefully. Our content is technical and premium. Think product keynote, not gaming stream. The sound design should feel restrained, tactile, and expensive. Small sounds that reward attention. Sounds that reinforce what is happening on screen instead of announcing themselves. We are explicitly not looking for cartoon boings, video-game power-up stingers, over-processed cinematic braams on every cut, or the stock whoosh pack that every YouTube tutorial uses. If a viewer notices the sound design as a separate thing, it is too loud or too busy. If a viewer just finds the video easier to follow and harder to click away from, that is the goal. Motion matching matters. If a graphic eases in over 12 frames, the sound needs to breathe with that curve, not fire a transient at the start and stop. Frame-accurate sync is a hard requirement. Workflow We send you a locked picture edit (video file with burned-in timecode plus a reference mix), the voiceover as a clean stem, and any music we have already selected. You design and mix the sound layer. You deliver stems plus a mixed master. We review, you handle one round of revisions, we finalize. Here are some videos that we have done on our own: https://youtu.be/aefJ4Py86FM?si=VKTPh_PL_xJrzk4U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDTkloY9Thc
