# Project Manager — Steel Fabrication & Manufacturing (Temp-to-Hire, Hybrid) **Location:** Delta, CO area — hybrid, 1–2 days/week on-site required **Engagement:** Temp-to-hire **Rate:** $26-32/hr, DOE with opportunities for advancement and project completion bonuses **Start:** ASAP --- ## The Job We run a steel fabrication and machine shop supporting construction, industrial, and specialty projects (including large multi-site contract work). Right now, deadlines are slipping — jobs are stacking up without a clear system tracking what's committed, what's in progress, and what's at risk. We need someone who can walk in, build that system, and start closing the gap between promised dates and delivered dates within the first few weeks. This is not a "manage the spreadsheet” role. You'll be coordinating real production schedules across shop floor capacity, material lead times, and crew availability — so it only works if you've done this in a fabrication, manufacturing, or construction environment before. Software-only or agile/tech PM backgrounds are not a fit here. ## What You'll Own - Build and maintain a live production schedule across active jobs, flagging conflicts before they become missed deadlines - Coordinate between shop floor, procurement, and any subcontracted trades so material and crew availability line up with committed dates - Run a weekly cadence (stand-up or check-in) with shop leads to surface blockers early - Own a simple, durable tracking system — doesn't need to be fancy, needs to be used consistently - Escalate risk to ownership with enough lead time to actually do something about it — not after the deadline's already blown ## Must-Have - 3+ years project management experience specifically in manufacturing, fabrication, or construction (not general/software PM) - Demonstrated experience managing production schedules against material lead times and crew/labor constraints - Comfortable being on-site in Delta, CO 1–2 days/week; reliable remote availability the rest of the week - Direct, proactive communication style — we need someone who raises problems early, not someone who waits to be asked ## Nice-to-Have - Experience with steel fabrication, welding, or machine shop operations specifically - Familiarity with QuickBooks Online or similar for job-costing visibility - Experience in a small/family-owned operation where you're building process from scratch, not inheriting one ## How to Apply In your proposal, tell us: 1. A specific example of a production schedule you rescued after it started slipping — what happened and what you changed 2. Your availability for on-site days in Delta, CO 3.
