Streetwear & Apparel Designer Needed for Ale Disc Golf & OTB Europe Merchandise Collection
Worldwide
We are looking for an experienced merchandise and apparel designer, casual/streetwear, headware and sportswear to help us develop a complete clothing and merchandise collection for two established disc golf brands in Sweden and Europe: Ale Disc Golf Center The worlds number #1 ranked disc golf and event destination, located outside Gothenburg, Sweden. Ale attracts players and visitors from across Europe and internationally and hosts major disc golf events including the European Open in 2027. OTB Europe The largest disc golf retailer in Europe with more than 50000 discs in stock and distributor connected to the international OTB brand, with a strong position in the European disc golf market. What We Want to Create We want more than simply placing our existing logos on T-shirts and hoodies. They definitely need to see our logo, but in a simplistic and clever way. We want to create merchandise that people genuinely want to wear and buy because the designs look and feel good. With that said, we still need a base collection but with simple means, you can do that in a great way as well. The goal is to develop a recognizable apparel identity combining elements of: Streetwear Headware Outdoor culture Disc golf Action sports Scandinavian design Skate / surf / snowboard / California-like culture Modern sports merchandise Lifestyle clothing In addition to simple T's, hoodies and headware, move more along the lines of merchandise connected to skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, outdoor sports, music and modern lifestyle brands — rather than traditional corporate promotional clothing. Initial Product Collection We would eventually like to develop a coordinated collection across products such as: Graphic T-shirts Hoodies Crewneck sweatshirts Caps / snapbacks Beanies Badges / Pins Performance shirts / jerseys Polo shirts Lightweight jackets Shorts Socks Towels Tote bags Other relevant disc golf or lifestyle merchandise Not every designer needs experience with every product. The most important thing is the ability to create a cohesive visual collection and strong individual graphics that people actually want to wear. A Challenge: We have two disctinctly different Brand Personalities 1) ALE DISC GOLF Ale should feel connected to: Nature and forest Sweden / Scandinavia Adventure World-class disc golf Travel and destination culture Outdoor lifestyle Major tournaments The distinctive personality of the Ale courses We are open to concepts involving typography, illustration, course imagery, Scandinavian themes, vintage outdoor graphics, location-based designs, individual holes, maps, coordinates, tournament-inspired graphics and other creative ideas. We have some STRONG iconic holes and wood creations that should be used in some of the suggestions (given their importance in to identifying with the fact that this person has played at the worlds #1 disc golf course) We want someone to be able to buy an Ale T-shirt or hoodie because they think it looks great — even if they are not currently visiting Ale Disc Golf Center. We have a strong B2C site serving all of Europe. 2) OTB EUROPE OTB Europe should have a more: Modern Progressive Streetwear-inspired Disc golf culture-driven Youthful International Bold identity. OTB designs can potentially be more graphic, contemporary and experimental than Ale. There can also be selected crossover products involving both brands. What We Are Looking for in a Designer We are particularly interested in designers with experience in areas such as: Streetwear Sports apparel Skateboarding Snowboarding Surf Outdoor brands Motorsports Music merchandise Festival merchandise Lifestyle brands Modern sporting events or teams Experience specifically with disc golf is useful but not required. It does resemble ball golf in many ways but it is a far more accessible sport and therefore has a more broad consumer demographic. Strong apparel design experience and a good understanding of what consumers actually want to wear are much more important. Markets are USA and Europe. When Applying Please send us: 3–6 examples of your strongest apparel or merchandise work. Examples showing actual clothing graphics, collections or merchandise — not only logos or corporate branding. A short explanation of the creative direction you would consider for Ale and/or OTB Europe. Tell us which brand you feel most inspired to work with: Ale, OTB Europe, or both. Briefly explain your normal process for developing an apparel collection. Provide your proposed pricing structure for a project like this. We prefer clearly defined fixed-price projects or milestones. Budget Indicative total project budget: USD $2,500–$4,000. This budget is intended for a strong designer capable of helping us develop a professional and commercially usable merchandise collection. However, we do not expect to immediately award the full collection. Our preference is to begin with a smaller paid creative milestone with the selected designer before committing to the complete project. Milestone 1 — Creative Direction / Initial Concepts Approximately $300–$500 For example: Initial visual direction 2–3 Ale concepts 2–3 OTB concepts Initial T-shirt / hoodie mockups Recommendations for how the two brands should differ visually The purpose of this stage is to make sure we are creatively aligned before developing the complete collection. Milestone 2 — Initial Merchandise Collection Approximately $1,500–$2,500 Potentially developing approximately: 8–12 strong apparel graphics / concepts Ale designs (including European Open line) OTB designs Selected crossover designs Front / back / sleeve placements Different garment applications where relevant Selected colorway variations The exact number of designs will depend on complexity and the designer's proposal. Milestone 3 — Final Production Artwork Approximately $750–$1,500 Potentially including: Final vector artwork Print-ready artwork Production-ready files Embroidery versions where appropriate Screen-print recommendations Color specifications Garment placement specifications Final mockups Organized source files The exact scope and final budget will depend on the designer's portfolio, proposed creative direction and the number of designs ultimately selected for production. We are open to alternative milestone structures proposed by experienced designers. Important At this stage, we are selecting designers based on portfolios, experience and creative direction. We are not asking applicants to produce finished Ale or OTB designs for free. We want to review a number of talented independent designers before making our selection. Once we identify the designer whose work and style best fit what we are trying to achieve, we expect to begin with the smaller paid creative milestone. If that collaboration works well, we would then move forward with the larger collection. Potential for Ongoing Work This is not necessarily a one-time project. For the right designer, there could be ongoing work involving: Seasonal collections Limited-edition releases Tournament merchandise Major event collections Collaborations New product launches Special Ale designs Special OTB Europe designs Future disc golf lifestyle collections We would ideally like to find a designer who can become a long-term creative partner as these brands grow. Final Deliverables Depending on the final agreement, deliverables may include: Original apparel graphics Typography concepts Illustrations Front / back / sleeve placements Apparel mockups Colorway recommendations Print-ready artwork Vector artwork where appropriate Production-ready files Embroidery-ready artwork where relevant Guidance on screen printing, embroidery and other production methods A consistent visual direction across the overall collection Final approved artwork must be supplied with full commercial usage rights. About Us We are active in the rapidly growing European disc golf market and are developing Ale Disc Golf Center and OTB Europe into strong lifestyle brands alongside their core disc golf businesses. We are looking for someone who wants to help build something distinctive, rather than simply complete a one-off graphic design assignment. If your portfolio shows that you understand apparel people actually want to wear, we would like to hear from you. www.discgolfcenter.se www.otbdiscs.eu www.otbdiscs.com
