# Structural Engineer Consultation – Rooftop Addition to Existing Precast House I am looking for an experienced structural engineer, preferably with expertise in (precast concrete buildings and hollow-core slab systems), to provide a structural consultation regarding a proposed rooftop addition to an existing residential house. Existing Building: The house is constructed using a (precast concrete structural system). I have the (as-built structural drawings) of the house available for review. I am considering constructing additional room(s) on the existing roof and would like to determine whether the existing structure can safely accommodate the additional loads. Scope of Consultation: I would like the structural engineer to: 1. Review the available as-built structural drawings and identify the existing structural system and load paths. 2. Assess the structural implications of adding the proposed rooms on the roof. 3. Review the capacity of the relevant structural elements, including: * Roof slabs / hollow-core slabs * Supporting walls and/or beams * Columns, if applicable * Connections * Foundations and overall load path, where this can be determined from the available drawing. 4. Estimate the additional dead and live loads created by the proposed construction. 5. Advise whether the proposed addition appears structurally feasible based on the available information. 6. Identify any areas where structural strengthening, additional supports, columns, beams, or other modifications may be required. 7. Recommend an appropriate lightweight construction system for the rooftop addition if reducing structural load would be beneficial. ## Deliverable I am initially looking for a (structural feasibility assessment/consultation), not full construction drawings. The preferred deliverable would be a short written report or marked-up drawings explaining: * Whether the proposed rooftop addition is structurally feasible * Estimated additional structural loads * Structural elements that may be critical * Any limitations or concerns identified * Recommended construction approach * Whether strengthening is likely to be required * Any additional information or on-site investigation required before construction The house is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
