Surface Pattern Designer for Kids' Apparel — Seamless Repeat + Layered AI File (Dye Sublimation)

We're a USA made children's apparel brand looking for an experienced textile/surface pattern designer to create a custom, seamless novelty print for boys. We've run prints like this successfully before and want a designer who can build clean, production ready artwork we can reuse and reorder from. The style: colorful, playful, bold, commercial — not babyish. Think large motifs with bold black outlines, tossed/rotated in many directions (not one directional or gridded), on a colorful background, with small filler elements (think sports, gaming, dinos, sharks, skateboards, camo shapes, lightning bolts — the kind of motifs boys gravitate to). We'll provide reference concepts and a clear direction to work from. What we need delivered: A true seamless repeat (no visible banding or obvious tiling) Layered, editable Adobe Illustrator (.ai) file with vector artwork High res TIFF, production ready for dye sublimation printing on 58" wide fabric Full commercial rights to the final design (work for hire) Important — how we work: We're fine with AI as part of ideation, but the final artwork must be genuinely built and cleaned by you as editable vector art — not regenerated AI images stitched into a repeat. Elements must be consistent, correctly spelled, and complete throughout the repeat. We'll review carefully before accepting. Note on backgrounds: In many cases we'll produce the raster background ourselves and need your vector motifs built to sit cleanly on top of it. We'll share the background and specs so your artwork lines up and repeats correctly with it. Flexibility to work this way (motifs as a separate editable layer over our supplied background) is a plus. Before we hire, please send: One original tossed novelty repeat from your portfolio (boys or gender neutral themed, not floral) A screenshot of that artwork open in Illustrator in Outline view showing the vector paths A finished fabric or garment example printed from your work Also let us know the repeat tile size and DPI you build at, and how it tiles at 58" fabric width.
