Surface Pattern Designer for Sublimation Apparel

Summary

We manufacture dye-sublimation cut-and-sew apparel and are expanding our in-house design library. We need a surface designer to produce seamless repeat patterns and engineered artwork built to a strict production spec, since these files go straight to factory. A distinctive part of this work: many patterns are built to accept customer branding at order time — a logo dropped into a prepared motif slot in a camo, a company name in a designated region. You'd construct masters with named insertion layers so that swap is drop-in later. Experience with this is not required; the ability to build clean, layered, well-organized files is. Scope Seamless repeat patterns at actual repeat size (camo, texture, geometric, technical/industrial themes) Colorways delivered as swappable color groups (.ai) or layer comps (.psd) — never baked Named insertion layers on designated masters Occasional engineered/panel-mapped artwork positioned to garment panels Requirements Demonstrable seamless repeat work — please include at least one tiled proof Illustrator and Photoshop at a production level: color groups, layer comps, disciplined layer naming Comfortable working in sRGB with no spot colors and no transparency in exports Will follow a naming grammar and folder structure exactly Hard requirement: All artwork must be original. We do not reproduce, trace, or derive from existing branded camo or pattern IP. This is non-negotiable and we check. Process Portfolio review — include one seamless repeat with a tiled proof Paid test (~2–3 hours, $XXX) — one master, two colorways, one insertion layer, to written spec Ongoing engagement — per-design rate or monthly retainer To apply: Send 3–5 repeat patterns with at least one shown tiled, and tell us your typical turnaround for one master plus two colorways. Raster-to-seamless conversion. Some source art arrives as flat images — scans, photography, textures — that need to be made into true seamless tiles. Vector originals are cleaner and we prefer them, but the ability to take a static image and produce a genuinely seamless repeat (offset, edge resolution, no visible seam or ghosting, no obvious cloned artifacts) is required, not optional.
