Tax Advisor / Tax Strategist – R&D, Cost Segregation & Advanced Tax Planning

We are a growing tax advisory firm looking for an experienced Tax Advisor / Tax Strategist to join our team on a part-time basis, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position. This is not simply a tax preparation role. We are looking for someone who is confident reviewing complex client situations, developing tax strategies, and advising successful business owners with significant tax liabilities. Responsibilities • Review clients’ financial and tax situations and identify tax-saving opportunities • Advise business owners with annual tax liabilities ranging from approximately $500,000 to $1,000,000+ • Review and recommend advanced tax strategies • Work with R&D Tax Credits • Understand and advise on Cost Segregation studies • Evaluate depreciation and other business tax planning opportunities • Review entity structure and compensation strategies • Explain tax strategies clearly to clients during Zoom meetings • Work directly with our CEO and tax advisory team to develop and implement client strategies • Review tax advisory presentations, calculations, and recommendations before they are presented to clients • Help ensure strategies are properly documented and implemented • Coordinate with outside specialists when necessary Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: • Has significant experience in tax planning and tax advisory • Understands R&D Tax Credits and Cost Segregation • Is comfortable working with high-income business owners and complex tax situations • Is confident advising clients with $500K–$1M+ tax liabilities • Can explain sophisticated tax concepts in simple language • Is comfortable being on Zoom and speaking directly with clients • Has strong analytical and communication skills • Is proactive and comfortable recommending strategies, not simply preparing returns • Can work independently while collaborating with our team • Is interested in growing with a fast-growing tax advisory firm CPA or EA strongly preferred. Experience with additional advanced tax strategies, reasonable compensation, entity restructuring, retirement strategies, real estate tax planning, and high-net-worth business owners is a major plus. Position Part-time to start, with the potential to become full-time as the relationship and client volume grow. We are looking for a long-term team member who wants to become an important part of our tax advisory department.
