Technical Editor / Engineering Content Editor
Worldwide
Technical Editor / Engineering Content Editor We are looking for an experienced English-language technical writer/editor to review and improve a large library of existing articles written for professional engineers. Our company provides continuing education for professional engineers throughout the United States. Our website contains approximately 400 informational articles covering engineering, professional licensure, continuing education, ethics, career topics, and other subjects relevant to engineers. The typical article is approximately 1,500 words. Our goal is to improve the overall quality, readability, technical credibility, and consistency of the content that professional engineers will enjoy reading and trust. What We Are Looking For We want the articles to sound as though they were written by a knowledgeable practicing engineer with several years of professional experience. The writing should be: Professional but approachable Technically knowledgeable without sounding academic Clear, concise, and easy to read Practical and useful Pleasant, positive, and confident Appropriate for professional engineers and other technically educated readers Our audience includes licensed professional engineers, so technical accuracy and good editorial judgment are important. Preferred Qualifications Relevant editorial and writing experience may include: Engineering or other technical fields Technical writing or editing Architecture or construction Environmental consulting Energy or utilities Infrastructure or manufacturing Writing for professional or technical audiences An engineering or technical degree is a strong plus but is not required. Excellent English writing and editing skills are required. Experience writing or editing content for engineers or other technical professionals is highly desirable. Scope of Work We expect to begin with a small paid trial and then assign articles in batches. Some articles already rank well in Google and require careful editing rather than extensive rewriting. Other articles may require more substantial improvement. We will provide a scope of work for each article outlining the level of editing or revision expected. This could become a long-term project involving a significant portion of our approximately 400-article content library. When Applying Please include: A brief description of your technical writing or editing background. Any engineering, science, construction, environmental, energy, manufacturing, or related industry experience. Samples or links to technical content you have written or edited. Your typical pricing for editing an existing article of approximately 1,500 words. Confirmation that you are willing to complete a paid editing test.
