Technical Manual Writer - Concrete Batch Plants

We are looking for an experienced technical writer/document designer to create professional, print-ready operation and maintenance manuals for our concrete batch plants. We currently have an existing manual that is fairly close to the content, structure, and overall direction we are looking for. However, it was primarily created using AI (Claude), and the current page layout and formatting are not properly optimized for professional printing. The selected freelancer will use this existing document as a starting point rather than starting completely from scratch. Scope of Work: - Review and improve our existing manual - Correct and verify wording, organization, and consistency - Redesign the document into a professional, print-friendly format - Ensure proper page breaks, margins, headers, footers, image placement, and section formatting - Incorporate photos, diagrams, drawings, specifications, and equipment information - Create clear sections for setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety - Develop a consistent manual template that can be used across multiple concrete batch plant models - Provide editable source files as well as final print-ready PDFs - Work with our team through multiple review and revision cycles This project will require multiple revisions. Our team will review the manuals for technical accuracy and provide feedback, corrections, additional photos, and information throughout the process. We are not looking for someone to simply run the existing document through another AI tool. We need someone who can take the information we already have and turn it into a polished, professionally formatted technical manual suitable for providing to customers with our equipment. Ideal Experience: - Technical writing and equipment manuals - Professional document layout and print formatting - Industrial or manufacturing equipment - Mechanical and electrical documentation - Working with photos, diagrams, drawings, and technical specifications - Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, or similar professional publishing software - Concrete plants, aggregate equipment, conveyors, silos, PLC controls, or similar equipment would be an asset When applying, please provide examples of equipment manuals, service manuals, operator manuals, or other technical documents you have created.
