Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer with a background in automotive technology, vehicle diagnostics, or dealership SaaS to craft clear, comprehensive documentation for Steer AI (https://www.steeraiautos.com/). Our AI platform powers the entire automotive after-sales lifecycle, from AI vehicle inspections and health scoring (Deep Diag) to automated repair estimation and dealership workflow management. You will collaborate with our product managers, AI engineers, and software teams to translate complex diagnostic algorithms, API integrations, and platform workflows into polished technical guides, product documentation, and user manuals. Key Responsibilities: Technical Documentation: - Author and update API documentation, integration guides, user manuals, and system specs for our AI diagnostic and after-sales platform. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with AI engineers and product managers to translate complex diagnostic workflows, OBD/telematics data integrations, and repair estimation tools into actionable guides. - User & Developer Guides: Create clear step-by-step guides for dealerships, service technicians, fleet managers, and enterprise partners using our software. - Standardization: Establish and maintain documentation style standards, knowledge bases, and user-facing release notes. Required Qualifications: - Domain Experience: 3+ years of technical writing experience in the automotive software, vehicle diagnostics (OBD/OEM data), fleet management, or aftermarket service sector. - Technical Aptitude: Ability to write developer-facing docs (APIs, webhooks, SaaS platform integrations) and end-user documentation for complex technical workflows. - Documentation Stack: Experience with tools like Markdown, Git, Confluence, Notion, or docs-as-code environments.Communication: Outstanding written English skills with a knack for making complex AI and automotive concepts clear and intuitive. - Portfolio: Strong writing samples covering software guides, API references, or automotive tech documentation. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with dealership operations, service department workflows, or aftermarket repair management systems (DMS). Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts applied to computer vision (visual vehicle inspections) or predictive maintenance.
