Troubleshoot Power BI MySQL Gateway Connection

Need help troubleshooting a connection issue between Power BI service and a MySQL database through an on-premise data gateway. The current setup includes a Power BI dataset configured to connect to MySQL, a gateway installed on a server on-premise, and a MySQL database hosted elsewhere with IP whitelisting. The office has a static IP address and my individual user can connect to the database in Power BI desktop. When published to server, it won't connect. To solve the IP whitelisting issue we installed an on-premise gateway to a server in the office and connected it to Power BI service. It says it is online but when we type in the credentials for the database into the authentication set up - it then failed to connect with InvalidCredentials error. I need someone to walk me through some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.
