Tutor LMS Specialist Needed to Build & Launch Branded Online Learning Platform

About Us We provide structured Computer Science courses that are taught online to international-school students. Our courses include live lecture lessons supported by slides, assignments with worksheets, and tests or assessments that are often accompanied by additional materials. Lessons are delivered through a virtual classroom, while separate coding platforms are used for practical programming activities, both during class and for assignments. What We Want to Achieve I want Tutor LMS to bring these different elements together in a clear and logical way. Students should be able to enter a course, find the appropriate lesson, and easily access the related live-classroom link, coding environment, assignment, worksheet, assessment, or other resource. The platform should be simple and intuitive for students, teachers, and administrators, so they can focus on learning, teaching, and course management rather than navigating unnecessary platform complexity. The LMS should also integrate cleanly with our existing WordPress website and feel like part of one cohesive, branded learning experience rather than a separate third-party system. I am not yet an expert in Tutor LMS, so I am open to recommendations on the best way to structure and implement the system. I am looking for a specialist who can do more than simply configure the plugin. I would like someone who can ask the right questions, recommend an effective structure and workflow, help implement and test the system, teach me how to manage it independently, and ideally provide ongoing support as the LMS develops and when technical problems arise. The immediate goal is to have a stable, professional system ready for use by the beginning of September. I am not trying to build a perfect or highly customized LMS immediately. I expect the platform to evolve as we gain experience using it with real courses, schools, teachers, and students. Tentative Project Phases The following phases reflect how I currently envision the project. I am open to suggestions from someone with strong Tutor LMS experience if there is a better or more efficient approach. Phase 1 — Prototype & Structure Validation - Configure a small working Tutor LMS prototype. - Recommend how our existing Course → Unit → Lesson structure should be represented within Tutor LMS. - Create representative administrator, instructor, and student test accounts. - Build a small sample course with several lessons, resources, and an assessment/activity. - Demonstrate the student and instructor/admin experience. - Identify any structural or architectural decisions that should be resolved before broader development begins. Phase 2 — Core LMS Configuration - Develop the approved prototype into a stable production LMS. - Configure user roles, permissions, enrollment, navigation, course access, progression, and notifications. - Configure assessment, grading, and feedback workflows where appropriate. - Apply branding so the LMS feels consistent with my existing website. - Establish reusable structures or templates for future courses. - Test desktop/mobile usability and resolve important WordPress or Tutor LMS configuration issues. - Establish basic backup, update, and recovery procedures. Phase 3 — Course Deployment - Create the initial production course structures using the approved templates. - Populate enough real course content for the opening weeks of teaching. - Configure the required classes/cohorts and student access. - Establish an efficient process for adding lessons and resources after courses have gone live. - Prepare the course structure so that virtual-classroom and coding-platform links can be added cleanly when those services are activated. - Test real student and instructor workflows using the production courses. Phase 4 — Testing, Onboarding & Handoff - Conduct realistic end-to-end testing from the perspectives of students, instructors, and administrators. - Identify and resolve launch-critical usability or technical problems. - Help define the student onboarding process. - Train me to handle normal LMS administration independently. - Document important LMS settings, procedures, backups, and troubleshooting steps. - Establish a practical process for obtaining technical support after launch when required. What I Am Looking For The ideal contractor has strong practical experience with Tutor LMS and WordPress and has implemented LMS environments for real users. I am particularly interested in someone who can think about the project from an operational and user-experience perspective, not simply follow a checklist of plugin settings. Please feel free to recommend changes to the proposed phases or approach if your experience suggests a simpler or more effective implementation. Budget & Proposal The posted $60 budget is for Phase 1 only and should be considered a starting point rather than a strict maximum. I am open to a different Phase 1 price where the applicant believes the scope requires it. In your proposal, please provide: - Your proposed fixed price for Phase 1. - The approximate number of hours you expect Phase 1 to require. - A preliminary estimate for Phases 2, 3, and 4 individually, including: - Estimated hours for each phase - Estimated price for each phase - Your estimated total cost and total hours for the complete Phase 1–4 project. - The estimates for Phases 2–4 are understood to be preliminary. The scope may be adjusted as we learn more during Phase 1 and as you make recommendations based on your experience. - The project is intended to proceed in milestones. Phase 1 will be completed and reviewed first before proceeding with the remaining phases. - Shortlisted applicants may also be invited to a brief Upwork call to discuss the project, their proposed approach, and any questions or recommendations they have.
