Urgent U.S. Case-Law and Citation Verification — 24-Hour Turnaround

We are hiring two independent lawyers or highly experienced legal researchers for an urgent, confidential scholarly legal-research project. The work will be divided between the two contractors. This is primary-source verification for a scholarly manuscript, not client representation or legal advice. The project concerns U.S. federal and state commercial and intellectual-property authorities. No author, institution, article title, or unpublished thesis will be disclosed publicly. Work includes Retrieving and personally reading judicial opinions, statutes, orders, and docket materials; Confirming exact quotations, reporter pages, pin cites, procedural posture, governing law, and subsequent treatment; Using traditional Westlaw/Lexis research and KeyCite/Shepard’s; Comparing primary-source language with a precisely stated manuscript proposition; Identifying whether each proposition is supported as written, supported only if narrowed, or unsupported; Recording exact corrective language in a structured spreadsheet; Providing PDFs and screenshots showing the complete relevant passage and visible page number; Recording search terms used when requested language is not found. Timing You must be able to: Begin within six hours after receiving the materials; Provide a substantive progress update or initial batch within eight hours; Complete your assigned portion within 24 hours. The anticipated workload is approximately 5–8 hours per contractor. Required qualifications U.S. JD or verifiable active U.S. bar membership; Strong U.S. federal and state case-law research experience; Authorized Westlaw or Lexis access that permits paid freelance work; Strong Bluebook and pinpoint-citation skills; Established Upwork history, preferably a 95%+ Job Success Score, 20+ completed jobs, and multiple recent legal-research reviews; Ability to perform the work personally and meet the 24-hour deadline; No agency submissions or subcontracting. Strict no-generative-AI requirement No part of this assignment may be performed using ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Westlaw AI-Assisted Research, or any other generative-AI system. Project materials may not be uploaded into any AI system. Ordinary keyword searching, traditional Westlaw/Lexis research, and KeyCite/Shepard’s are permitted. For every completed item, the contractor must certify: “I personally opened and read the cited primary source and completed this entry without generative AI.” Work may be audited through a short live screen-share in which the contractor opens the source and explains selected entries directly from the opinion.
