VFX Compositor Needed Green-Screen Keying + Sci-Fi Environments (Short Comedy Video) T H E P R O J E C T A 3 minute Halloween comedy video for a community bank: live-action, space-opera parody, employees in playful costumes, shot entirely on a 40x40 pre-lit green-screen stage. Final video goes on YouTube and social channels. We need a compositor to key the green-screen footage and build original sci-fi environments for the actors to live in. W H A T Y O U ' R E B U I L D I N G Nearly all shots are locked-off with no camera movement - two fixed camera positions per setup. Camera tracking is generally not required. You will build approximately 8-10 unique environment plates across four locations, then composite actors into those plates across the editorial cut: • Cockpit: two-person cockpit, starfield or hyperspace through windows (2-3 plates) • Briefing room: group scene around a console/war-room table (1-2 plates) • Enemy corridor: recurring hallway for movement, comic blaster exchange, and a lightsaber-style duel (3-4 plates) • Grand hall: ceremonial/futuristic space for the finale (1-2 plates) The corridor block is the heaviest. Difficult keying throughout: fast movement, capes, a fur costume, reflective helmets, and prop weapons. We will provide rough concept art and visual direction references for each environment. S C O P E B O U N D A R I E S Our team handles all editorial, sound, music, dialogue, title treatments, credits, and transitional CGI sequences. Your scope is keying and environment compositing. If you also do lightsaber glow, blaster bolts, or interactive lighting, price those as an optional add-on - not part of the base scope. W H A T W E ' R E L O O K I N G F O R • Strong green-screen keying, despill, edge refinement, and garbage mattes • Manual roto for difficult edges: capes, fur, plastic armor, helmets, visors, and fast action • After Effects, Nuke, Fusion, or equivalent compositing workflow • Environment creation by any method that produces stable, shot-matched results - AI-assisted, matte painting, 3D, or a combination • Consistent design language across multiple shots within the same environment • Perspective, scale, and horizon matching between plates and footage • Integration through color grade, shadows, light wrap, atmosphere, and grain matching AI tools for environment creation are welcome but not required. If you use them, explain how you maintain consistency across shots and prevent flickering or drift. V I S U A L D I R E C T I O N An original, retro-futurist, slightly exaggerated sci-fi universe with a polished but comedic tone. Cinematic and coherent, but intentionally distinct from any specific franchise. All environments must be original and parody-friendly. No reproductions of recognizable franchise sets, logos, or imagery. We will provide script and scene descriptions, source footage, a shot list with plate count, rough concept art for each location, costume and prop references, and feedback during look development. T I M E L I N E A N D B U D G E T Source footage available: Late August 2026 Final delivery: Mid-October 2026 Budget: $3,000 USD fixed price, inclusive of the paid proof of concept. We are posting now and will run paid tests before the shoot so the selected compositor is vetted and look development can begin as soon as footage arrives. D E L I V E R A B L E S • Composited shots with keyed actors in approved environments • Background plates for each location • Finished renders in ProRes 4444 or PNG-sequence alpha • Organized, editable project files with linked assets • Source environment plates used in the production • One revision round after full-motion review (second round available as add-on) H O W T O A P P L Y Include in your proposal: • 2-3 examples of real actors composited into generated, virtual, or extended environments (not motion graphics) • At least one example showing difficult keying: fur, hair, capes, reflective wardrobe, fast movement, or translucent materials • A short explanation of how you would build one corridor environment and keep it consistent across wide, medium, and close framings • Your pricing preference: fixed, milestones, or hourly • Your paid-test price and turnaround (5-10 second clip using our footage) • Confirmation you can deliver editable project files and source assets • Your availability through mid-October To confirm you read the full post, begin your proposal with: "The Force of Personal Service." P A I D P R O O F O F C O N C E P T Shortlisted candidates complete a paid 5-10 second test using our footage (or other similar green screen footage). The test should show: • Clean keying and despill on a difficult costume edge • An original corridor-style background • Correct scale, perspective, and placement • Basic lighting integration, floor shadow, and color match • Stable result during motion We select the full-project compositor based on this test, not portfolio images alone. C O N T R A C T S T R U C T U R E Fixed-price with milestones: • Paid proof of concept • Look development: visual direction for all four environments • Keying and primary compositing • Review and revision pass • Final renders, project files, and asset handoff After viewing footage and the shot list, please provide a milestone estimate that separates keying/roto, environment creation, compositing, optional action VFX, and revisions. We prioritize quality, consistency, communication, and reliable handoff over the lowest bid.
