Verification of Benefits Specialist

Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist to support our behavioral health admissions and financial counseling teams. This remote, contract position plays a critical role in helping patients understand their insurance coverage before beginning treatment. Scope of Work: The VOB Specialist is responsible for verifying insurance benefits prior to admission and ensuring accurate documentation for internal teams. This work directly supports the creation of Good Faith Estimates (GFEs) and helps patients navigate their financial responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Verify insurance benefits for all potential and current patients Obtain VOBs prior to treatment and record findings accurately Maintain thorough documentation of all verifications Notify Admissions and facility teams of VOB outcomes Collaborate closely with Admissions, Clinical, Billing, and Utilization Review departments Track out-of-network benefit details in the GFE tracker Alert the Patient Financial Counselor regarding any required out-of-pocket collections Qualifications: Prior experience in insurance verification, preferably within behavioral health or addiction treatment Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements Strong attention to detail and time management skills Clear written and verbal communication Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
