ABOUT US DEFY Studio is a Toronto-based content production agency creating premium short-form video content for food, beverage, restaurant, hospitality, and lifestyle brands. We shoot. You edit. THE WORK Ongoing short-form editing for restaurant and hospitality clients Typically 8–16 reels per month depending on workload Mix of cinematic food content, UGC-style edits, social-first reels, talking-head content, and promotional pieces Fast cuts, trending audio, text overlays, subtitles, speed ramps, sound design, and colour work where needed Raw files delivered organized with a clear creative brief for each batch We are specifically looking for someone with strong creative instincts, not just technical editing ability. YOU NEED Strong portfolio showing food, restaurant, beverage, hospitality, or lifestyle reels Excellent pacing and shot-selection instincts Strong eye for appetizing, natural food colour Comfortable with cinematic and social-first editing styles Good music selection and sound-design instincts DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro Strong written English and communication Reliable 5-business-day turnaround for standard batches Comfortable taking feedback and adapting to an established creative style PRICING We work on a fixed per-edit basis depending on complexity: Simple Edit: $10–12 USD Standard Edit: $20–25 USD Complex Edit: $35–40 USD The exact rate is agreed upon before each project begins based on scope and complexity. Projects are assigned and paid through Upwork milestones. Consistent monthly volume is available for the right editor. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR We want an editor who can eventually take a clear brief and return a strong V1 without excessive direction.
