Video Editor, Connection is Magic Podcast
Worldwide
ABOUT US: Connection is Magic is a "Lighthouse for Creatives." We're a podcast and 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting the people behind music, art, and entertainment. Guests have included Jack Black, G-Eazy, Christian Clancy (Tyler, The Creator's manager), Coodie & Chike (directors of Jeen-yuhs), and Katonya Breaux (Frank Ocean's mom). Nabil Elderkin kicks off our next season, with more incredible voices on the way. Hosted by Samson Shulman, a former Interscope Records executive turned therapist, the show has surpassed 8 million YouTube views and ranks in the top 5% most globally shared on Spotify. We are part of the Companion Arts network. ABOUT YOU: You understand why a moment works. You watch a cut and instinctively ask whether it can be tighter, whether the tangent earns its place, whether we should be on the other camera, whether an image would make this land harder. You have exceptional taste and a real pulse on music, film, fashion, and culture, and you're curious enough to pull the reference nobody else would think of. You want to push past predictable podcast editing and bring your own point of view, not just execute someone else's. Above all, you care about the well-being of the people behind the work. The goal is not to make conversations feel produced. It is to make them feel alive. ROLE: · Edit full-length interviews into polished, release-ready episodes · Make multicam decisions that serve the moment, knowing when to switch, hold, or let it breathe · Source and place images, archival material, and cultural references that deepen a conversation · Cut for pacing and attention: dead space, continuity, tangents · Select music that fits the tone or the artist being discussed · Rework catalog episodes into upgraded 4K versions EXPERIENCE: · Fluent in Adobe Premiere Pro with strong long-form editing and storytelling skills · A portfolio that shows taste, not just technical competence · Obsessive attention to detail and pacing · Reliable, organized, communicative, meets deadlines · Topaz Video AI or comparable upscaling and restoration experience is a plus · Genuine passion for music, art, storytelling, and mental health COMPENSATION: Starts at $150 per completed episode, part-time freelance and fully remote. Final cuts due end of day (5pm PST) every other Friday for a Monday 6am PST release. You'll be credited on every episode. Plus a percentage of future brand deals for the right long-term fit. We are a nonprofit with limited resources at this stage. As our audience, funding, and partnerships grow, compensation and scope grow with them.
