Summary

This is a one-time build, not ongoing editing. I’m launching a continuing-education video podcast for behavior analysts (psychology/education realm). A single host (me) talking into camera while using teleprompter, walking through published research, and giving commentary. I need an experienced editor/motion designer to establish the show’s visual system and produce the first few episodes to that standard, then hand me a documented, reusable template package I can run with going forward. Ongoing episode editing would be a separate, later engagement. Some techniques I’d want you to incorporate (not exhaustive): On-screen text timed to my words (supers / text overlays) — a key term, a phrase, a definition, or a short list that builds point by point, appearing right as I say it. This is the single most important element. It can sit beside me or fill the frame when a point needs emphasis. Lower thirds and similar layouts B-roll cutaways — brief cuts to supporting footage or a full-frame image (a figure, a chart, the article page) while I keep narrating; short voiceover over b-roll is fine here. Split screen and picture-in-picture — me on one side with a graph, figure, or text panel on the other; or me shrunk into a corner while a recreated chart or figure fills the screen. Callouts and highlights — an arrow, box, or circle drawing the eye to one number or row in a figure, or a quick zoom/punch-in for emphasis. A short branded open — a few-second logo animation with music, then straight into content, plus a matching short outro. The overall feel is professional and information-dense but not over-produced: a training/explainer show where every graphic earns its place and nothing is decoration for its own sake. (I can provide some reference clips once we have begun communicating). Your own toolkit is a strong plus. I'd prefer someone who already has access to stock footage and image libraries (for example Storyblocks, Envato Elements, Adobe Stock, or Artgrid) and their own animation / motion-graphics software (such as After Effects), so we can move quickly from day one and you're not waiting on me for materials. If you don't have all of it, that's not a dealbreaker. I'm Ok with funding the subscriptions you need, but coming already equipped is a real advantage in your favor. Familiarity with using AI to generate graphs and other visuals would also be beneficial for my project. What I provide: Rough-cut footage (single-camera talking head) for the 3 episodes (the average duration across the 3 episodes will be no more than 30 minutes each). Scripts with notes pinned in Descript at each spot where I want a visual — you build the treatments; I tell you where and ideas for the “what”. Timeline: About 4 weeks from start — the visual system, three finished episodes, and the handoff, all within roughly one month (longer is OK if you have other obligations but please be up-front if more time will be needed). Fixed-price, paid in four escrow-funded milestones, funded into escrow before each phase begins and released on approval. They follow the way the work actually flows: Milestone 1: Branded intro + outro — $500 (a self-contained early look-check) Milestone 2: Episode 1, with the full visual system built into it — $1,100 (where the templates, supers, lower thirds, layouts etc are created). Some re-edits will likely be necessary based on my feedback, but can apply more so to subsequent episodes so that it's 100% what I need by by episode 3. Milestone 3: Episodes 2 and 3, applying the established system with suggested changes — $950 Milestone 4 — Documented handoff: packaged templates + a short guide/Loom — $450 Ownership: work-for-hire — I own all deliverables (templates, source files, effects, layouts). A simple agreement covers this. To apply: Share 1–2 links to work where you built the look — custom animation, on-screen text treatments, a repeatable style — ideally for a talking-head or educational show, naming which parts you personally created. Confirm this project is in your lane. After the two reference clips above, tell me honestly whether this is the kind of work you do — and flag anything that isn't (the intro animation, the Descript-based handoff) so we can discuss it now, not mid-project. Show me your thinking. In a few sentences: how would you build the visual system so a future editor could apply it without you? This is the core of the job, so it's what I'm weighing most. Confirm scope and timing. The budget and milestones are set above — I just need to know the scope works for you and that you can deliver all of it within about a month of starting. For the right person this is a clean, self-contained build — a system you create from scratch that doubles as a strong portfolio piece — and there's ongoing work behind it if it goes well. If that's your wheelhouse, I'd like to see your take.
