# Instructional & Visual Designer Needed for Premium Online Insurance Course ## Project Overview I am developing a professionally produced **online insurance education and exam-preparation program**. The initial project consists of approximately **40 hours of Property & Casualty instruction**, with additional insurance courses planned in the future. The instructional content and videos are already being developed and recorded. I am looking for a talented **instructional/visual designer** who can help establish a clean, modern, professional visual system for the course and potentially continue with us to implement that system throughout the full program. This is **not simply a PowerPoint design project**. Insurance concepts can sometimes be complicated and text-heavy. The goal is to use strong visual communication to help students understand concepts faster, recognize important relationships, retain information, and stay engaged throughout an online course. ## PHASE 1 — DEVELOP THE VISUAL LEARNING SYSTEM The first assignment will be to create a reusable set of branded templates and visual standards that can be applied consistently throughout the course. Finalized logos, colors, and branding assets will be provided to the selected designer. Templates and assets will likely include: * Course and module opening screens * Lesson title and section screens * Key Term / Definition overlays * Remember This callouts * Recognition Trigger / “See This → Think This” graphics * Watch Out / Don't Mix These Up graphics * Comparison graphics * “If This → Then That” diagrams * Hard Fact / Must Know callouts * Simple process and concept flowcharts * Scenario/vignette visual treatments * Question and answer screens * Review graphics * Video lower-thirds and overlays * Additional reusable educational graphics as needed The objective is to create a **consistent visual language**, not a collection of unrelated graphics. Once students become familiar with the visual system, they should quickly recognize whether they are seeing an important fact, recognition trigger, comparison, warning, definition, or review concept. ## GUIDED LEARNING PDF TEMPLATE We also want to develop a professional **Guided Learning PDF template** that students can download and use while completing individual course lessons. The concept is influenced partly by Cornell-style note taking, with a cue/topic area and a larger area where students can take their own notes. Pages may incorporate: * Key terms * Strategic fill-in-the-blank activities * Recognition triggers * Remember This cues * Matching exercises * Short comparisons * Quick retrieval exercises * Limited multiple-choice questions * Visual diagrams * Student note-taking space * Key takeaway and review areas The finished product should feel like a **premium adult-learning course companion**, not an elementary worksheet or traditional school workbook. ## CONDENSED EXAM-REVIEW VISUAL SYSTEM The program will also include a condensed exam-preparation/review component. We want a distinctive but related visual system for this portion of the program, including approximately **one major visual summary/map per course module**. These visual maps may combine: * Important concepts * Diagrams and relationships * Recognition triggers * “If → Then” associations * Do's and Don'ts * Common traps * Must-Know / Hard Facts * Short explanations * Supporting illustrations The goal is for a student to look at one professionally designed sheet and quickly reconstruct the major concepts and relationships from that module. We will provide the instructional content, priorities, wording, and rough concepts. The designer's role is to transform that information into a polished, custom visual system. ## PHASE 2 — COURSE PRODUCTION If Phase 1 is successful, there is an opportunity for substantial additional work. The next phase would involve using the approved templates and design system to create the actual visual aids and overlays required throughout approximately **40 hours of Property & Casualty video instruction**. You would **not** be expected to determine or research the insurance content yourself. We will provide: * Final instructional content * Exact or near-final overlay text * Concepts requiring visualization * Direction regarding relationships that should be illustrated * Recognition triggers and comparisons * Rough visual concepts/examples where appropriate * Existing video content for context Your responsibility would be to turn that material into polished, consistent visual assets using the approved design system. ## IMPORTANT — WE DO NOT WANT A GENERIC OR “AI-GENERATED” LOOK The final product should **not have the recognizable appearance of generic AI-generated infographics or illustrations**. AI may be used appropriately within a designer's normal workflow, but final deliverables should have a deliberate, custom, professionally designed aesthetic. The desired visual direction is: **Modern. Clean. Warm. Professional. Approachable. Visually engaging. Adult. Educational.** It should NOT feel: * Generic or templated * Overly corporate * Childlike * Cartoon-heavy * Cluttered * Like stock PowerPoint * Like generic AI-generated infographics This is intended to become a long-term education brand, so **visual consistency, originality, and longevity are extremely important**. ## IDEAL DESIGNER We are particularly interested in someone with experience in one or more of the following: * Instructional design * E-learning visual design * Educational infographics * Course/workbook design * Presentation design * Information visualization * Video graphics and overlays * Adult learning * Online course production Insurance experience is **not required**. Subject-matter direction will be provided. What matters most is the ability to look at information and ask: **“How can I help someone understand and remember this faster by seeing it?”** We are looking for more than someone who can make information attractive. We need someone who understands **visual communication and information hierarchy**. ## SOFTWARE & DELIVERABLES Final assets should be provided in production-ready formats and **editable source formats whenever appropriate**, allowing minor wording, number, or content changes without requiring an entirely new design. Please tell us what software you recommend for creating and maintaining this visual system and why. We are particularly interested in a workflow that allows approved templates and visual components to be reused efficiently across a large course. ## TO APPLY Please provide: 1. Examples of educational, instructional, infographic, workbook, presentation, or e-learning designs you have personally created. 2. At least one example showing how you simplified complicated information visually. 3. The software you would recommend for this project. 4. Your approach to developing a **reusable visual design system** rather than designing individual graphics independently. 5. Your estimated **cost and timeline for Phase 1 only**. 6. Your approximate pricing structure for ongoing Phase 2 production if we decide to continue working together. Please begin your proposal with the words **“VISUAL LEARNING”** so I know you have read the entire project description. ## POTENTIAL LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITY The initial project covers approximately **40 hours of Property & Casualty insurance education**, but additional insurance education courses are planned. For the right designer, this could develop into significant ongoing work creating educational graphics, visual aids, course companions, review materials, and other branded learning assets.
