Web Developer for Wordpress + Gutenberg AI Website Reviews + Build
Worldwide
Roughly 70% reviewing code, 20% technical advice, 10% building. I run a small B2B marketing agency. We build client websites as native WordPress block themes, and the code is written with AI assistance. I am a marketer, not a developer, so I need someone who can read the code and tell me what is wrong with it before it reaches a client. Typical engagement is two to four hours per site, a few sites a month. 1. REVIEWING (most of the work) - Read a theme repository and report what needs fixing, ranked by severity - Catch what automated tools miss: security, logic errors, maintainability - Tell me in plain English what you found and why it matters I already run automated checks before anything reaches you: a deterministic pass for duplication and CSS problems, Lighthouse and markup validation on the live page, and a multi-model review. That stack was benchmarked against 25 known defects. It found about 80% of them, and about 57% of the hardest ones. Your job is the missing fifth, and the judgement calls no tool makes. 2. TECHNICAL ADVICE (some of it) - Sanity-check an approach before I build it the wrong way - Tell me when an AI-suggested pattern is a bad idea - Opinions on architecture, plugin choices, hosting, performance 3. BUILDING (occasionally) - Fix the issues we agree on - Build the odd component that is genuinely beyond what I can generate WHAT YOU NEED - Strong PHP and modern JavaScript - Real experience with native Gutenberg block themes: block.json, render.php, patterns, template parts. Not Divi, not Elementor, not page builders - WordPress security fundamentals: nonces, capabilities, escaping, sanitisation - The ability to explain a technical problem to someone who cannot read code BEING DIRECT ABOUT ONE THING The code you review will be AI-written. Some developers do not want to work that way, which is fine, but please do not apply if that is you. The code is generally clean and conventional. Its weaknesses are duplication, hardcoded values, and subtle logic errors.
