Wix Studio + Velo Ecommerce Developer — Catalog V3, B2B, SparkLayer PROJECT OVERVIEW We are rebuilding the website for a 60-year-old California wholesale distributor of tire-shop supplies, with an additional consumer product line serving RV and dually-truck owners. This is not a basic Wix website-design project. We are looking for one experienced individual Wix Studio developer with strong experience in: Wix Studio Velo Wix Stores / Catalog V3 Ecommerce functionality and integrations CMS and data-driven functionality Responsive implementation Technical SEO B2B or wholesale ecommerce Experience with SparkLayer is a major plus. The platform and architecture have already been decided: Wix Studio + Wix Stores Catalog V3 + Velo + SparkLayer We are not looking to change platforms or redesign the technical architecture from scratch. WHAT IS ALREADY COMPLETE A significant amount of project groundwork has already been completed. We currently have: Detailed website strategy and architecture Defined B2C and B2B customer journeys Initial page concepts and SVG mockups Brand and UX direction Product and category structure Approximately 933 products already loaded into the Wix Studio sandbox Product images Product descriptions Categories SEO metadata Technical-document data Customer and order-related CMS structures Defined wholesale/account workflows You will not be starting from a blank site. We need someone who can understand the direction already established, execute it properly in Wix Studio, and improve the visual and UX execution where appropriate. Our mockups are starting points, not pixel-perfect specifications. We want a developer who understands hierarchy, ecommerce UX, responsive design, and customer flow well enough to improve a layout rather than simply copying it. THE WORK The main build is expected to include approximately 10–20 production pages. WIX STUDIO BUILD Build production pages in Wix Studio Improve and refine supplied layouts when appropriate Create responsive desktop, tablet, and mobile experiences Complete a proper mobile breakpoint pass on every page Build reusable sections, components, and layout patterns Maintain a clean and understandable Wix Studio structure WIX STORES / ECOMMERCE Work with Wix Stores Catalog V3 Product detail page implementation Product and category browsing and filtering Ecommerce search functionality Cart and checkout configuration Product-related CMS and data functionality Product-fitment functionality VELO DEVELOPMENT Velo work may include: Dynamic functionality Wix Members logic B2B/member-aware experiences Product data handling CMS integrations Ecommerce functionality Server-side SEO implementation setMetaTags() / SSR PRODUCT FITMENT A major consumer workflow will help RV and dually-truck customers identify the correct product for their vehicle. This includes a product-fitment guide or wizard that routes customers toward the appropriate product based on vehicle and wheel information. B2B / WHOLESALE The site also serves wholesale customers. Functionality includes: Wholesale accounts Member and account experiences Wholesale pricing Quick-order functionality Reordering workflows Approved-account functionality Charge-to-account / net-terms purchasing SPARKLAYER SparkLayer is an important part of this project. We expect SparkLayer to support B2B functionality including wholesale pricing and account-related features. Previous SparkLayer experience is strongly preferred. However, we will consider a developer without direct SparkLayer experience only if you have strong Wix Studio, Velo, and ecommerce integration experience and can demonstrate comparable B2B integration work. Simply being willing to learn SparkLayer is not enough by itself. We need evidence that you have successfully handled technically comparable ecommerce integrations. PAYMENTS Checkout will support: Stripe PayPal Charge to Business Account / net terms for approved wholesale customers SHIPPING We need real-time carrier-rate functionality through an appropriate Wix-compatible third-party shipping solution using our existing carrier accounts: FedEx UPS USPS There will also be special shipping rules for certain: Oversize items Carrier-restricted products FedEx-only items CMS / STAFF MAINTAINABILITY The site must be structured so that a non-technical staff member can handle normal day-to-day updates after launch without needing a developer. This includes normal tasks such as: Editing page content Updating products Updating descriptions Managing documents Making common content changes Clean structure and handoff are therefore very important. HARD TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Please read these carefully before applying. WIX STUDIO ONLY We are using Wix Studio. Not: Wix Harmony Older Wix Editor WIX STORES CATALOG V3 ONLY The project uses Wix Stores Catalog V3. We will not accept implementations based on outdated V1 patterns. NATIVE WIX STUDIO + VELO Do not use Custom Embeds as shortcuts for functionality that should be implemented properly using: Native Wix Studio components Wix APIs CMS Velo EXISTING ARCHITECTURE You must be comfortable working inside an already-defined architecture. We are not hiring someone to propose Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, or another platform. SITE THEME Colors and typography should be managed appropriately through the Wix Studio Site Theme rather than unnecessarily hard-coding styling throughout the site. ENGAGEMENT PROCESS STAGE 1 — INITIAL INTERVIEW Shortlisted candidates will join a brief video call. We may ask you to screen-share Wix Studio projects you personally built. We want to verify that the work shown in your portfolio is actually your work and understand what you personally implemented. STAGE 2 — PAID TRIAL $50 FIXED-PRICE TRIAL Candidates who pass the initial interview may be invited to complete a small paid trial. You will receive access to our Wix Studio sandbox and build one real project page. We will provide: An SVG/page concept Brand direction Page content Functional requirements Relevant project documentation The supplied layout is a starting point rather than a strict pixel-for-pixel specification. We want you to understand what the page is trying to accomplish and use good design judgment where improvement is clearly needed. TRIAL DELIVERABLES One real page built in our Wix Studio sandbox Desktop implementation Mobile breakpoint Clean Wix Studio structure Appropriate reusable components and patterns Short screen recording explaining the build Short demonstration showing how a non-technical employee can edit the page WE WILL EVALUATE Wix Studio proficiency Responsive implementation Visual and UX judgment Ability to understand an existing concept Ability to improve rather than simply copy Wix Studio organization Technical decision-making Ability to follow project constraints Communication Documentation Handoff quality Trial payment: $50 fixed price. The paid trial is primarily intended to evaluate how you work. Completing the trial does not guarantee selection for the main project. STAGE 3 — MAIN BUILD The successful candidate may be offered the complete implementation. ESTIMATED MAIN PROJECT Approximately 90–120 hours Hourly contract through Upwork Approximately 10–20 production pages Approximately two reasonable iteration rounds per page The work will include a combination of: Wix Studio Velo Wix Stores Catalog V3 CMS SparkLayer Ecommerce functionality B2B functionality Shipping integrations Payment configuration Testing Responsive implementation Technical SEO Launch preparation POST-LAUNCH RELATIONSHIP We would prefer to continue working with the same developer after launch. Post-launch work may include: Occasional improvements Troubleshooting Small integrations New features Wix/Velo maintenance This would typically only be a few hours during a normal month. There is no retainer. INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPERS ONLY No agencies. Please do not apply if: You are applying on behalf of an agency Another developer will perform the work You plan to subcontract the project Different team members will rotate through the project We want one individual developer who personally performs 100% of the work. That person should understand the complete website and ideally remain our technical contact after launch. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The strongest candidate will likely have experience with several of the following: Advanced Wix Studio builds Wix Stores Wix Stores Catalog V3 Velo Wix APIs CMS Dynamic pages Wix Members Ecommerce checkout B2B ecommerce Wholesale pricing Third-party ecommerce integrations Shipping integrations Server-side SEO Responsive ecommerce UX Strong visual judgment matters, but we are not hiring primarily for graphic design. We need someone who can combine development, ecommerce implementation, and solid UX judgment. TO APPLY Please answer all five questions below. Generic or template proposals that do not answer these questions will not be shortlisted. 1. INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPER Are you an individual developer or part of an agency? Will you personally perform 100% of the work? 2. WIX STUDIO EXAMPLES Share links to two Wix Studio websites you personally built recently. For each project, briefly tell us: What you personally built What Velo functionality you implemented What ecommerce functionality you implemented What third-party integrations you implemented Wix Studio only. Please do not send Wix Editor or Harmony projects as your primary examples. 3. ECOMMERCE / VELO / SPARKLAYER Describe your hands-on experience with: Wix Stores Catalog V3 Velo Wix APIs Ecommerce integrations B2B/wholesale functionality If you have worked with SparkLayer, explain exactly what you personally implemented. If you have not worked with SparkLayer, describe the closest comparable B2B or ecommerce integration you personally implemented, including what platform or API was involved and what you were responsible for. 4. TECHNICAL QUESTION On a Wix product detail page, how would you implement Velo logic that uses the current product's data to set SEO meta tags server-side using setMetaTags() / SSR so Googlebot receives the appropriate metadata on the initial page load? 2–4 sentences is enough. We are interested in how you think, not a long answer. 5. AVAILABILITY Please provide: Your hourly rate Your usual minimum engagement, if any Your time zone Your availability during the next 1–2 weeks Approximate hours available per week Also confirm: A. You are willing to complete the $50 paid Wix Studio trial. B. You are willing to join a live video call and screen-share Wix Studio projects you personally built. HOW WE SELECT We are not selecting based on how polished your Upwork proposal sounds. Shortlisted developers will be asked to demonstrate and explain actual Wix Studio work. Final selection will be based primarily on: 1. Wix Studio and Velo technical experience 2. Wix Stores Catalog V3 knowledge 3. Ecommerce and integration experience 4. B2B/SparkLayer or comparable integration experience 5. Ability to demonstrate work you personally built 6. Design and ecommerce UX judgment 7. Paid trial performance 8. Ability to work within an established architecture 9. Communication and reliability Short, direct answers are welcome. English does not need to be your first language. Please do not send a generic proposal. Show us what you have actually built.
