WordPress Developer (Freelance / Retainer) Company: RankFast Digital Location: Remote (India), overlap with IST working hours Engagement: Monthly retainer, approx. 60 to 90 hours per month across 6 to 8 client websites. Reports to: Growth/Account Operator handling the relevant client About the role RankFast is a digital marketing agency serving clients in the US, UK, Canada, UAE and Australia. Our clients run on WordPress and we need a developer who can take a change request from a client call and ship it the same week without hand holding. You will be the only dev seat, working alongside SEO and paid media operators who define what needs to change and why. You own how. This is execution work on live client sites, not greenfield product development. Speed, reliability and clean handovers matter more than framework depth. What you will actually do: Everything below comes from our real workload over the last quarter: Page builds and edits Build and edit pages in Elementor: landing pages, service pages, retreat/program pages, video library pages Header, footer and global template changes across sites Popups, banners and section-level redesigns from client feedback Embed and organise video content (YouTube integrations, video sections on blog pages) Forms, bookings and automations Build and test contact and booking forms, add fields, verify email delivery Calendly and booking tool configuration and troubleshooting Connect lead sources to email lists and CRMs (e.g. Meta lead forms to email via Make/Zapier or native integrations) Fixes and maintenance Debug plugin conflicts (duplicate page issues, broken elements after content removal) Resolve site-level issues: redirects, www/non-www resolution, DNS and SSL basics, 404s Page speed and Core Web Vitals improvements Pre-launch and post-launch QA on redesigned sites: test forms, links, mobile rendering SEO implementation (you implement, the SEO team specifies) Fix technical issues flagged in Google Search Console and Semrush audits: invalid structured data, sitemap errors, broken internal links, missing anchor text, meta title/description updates in bulk Validate fixes in GSC after deployment Must have 2+ years hands-on WordPress work on client sites (agency or freelance) Strong Elementor skills, comfortable with theme builder, global templates and custom sections Working HTML/CSS and enough JS/PHP to debug, not necessarily to architect Experience with common plugin stacks: forms, caching, SEO plugins, redirection Comfortable in cPanel or hosting dashboards, DNS records, SSL, staging environments Can read a GSC/Semrush issue report and act on it without a walkthrough Written English good enough for async updates; you will summarise what you changed after every task Good to have: Make/Zapier automation experience Shopify or Squarespace exposure (occasional client requests) Page speed tooling (WP Rocket, image optimisation, script deferral) Basic GTM container edits How we work Tasks come through a shared sheet or Slack with the client name, the change, and a deadline You log time per task per client (we bill and plan against this) Weekly 30 minute sync, everything else async Client calls only when a change needs live discussion; an operator will always be on the call with you What success looks like in 90 days: Standard change requests (page edit, form fix, popup) shipped within 48 hours Zero repeat bugs on tasks marked done GSC technical issues on assigned sites trending down month over month Operators stop doing any hands-on Elementor work themselves Compensation: Retainer negotiable based on committed hours, in the range typical for a mid-level freelance WordPress developer in India.
