WordPress Marketing Website for new Big NGO
Worldwide
We are a national non-profit association recently formed through a merger, representing a large network of local organizations across the Netherlands. We need an experienced WordPress developer to build a new professional marketing website for non-members, including prospective member organizations, municipalities, government, press, and partners. The site should reflect a credible, professional tone and clearly communicate the scale and reach of our nationwide network. Our starting point is native WordPress with Gutenberg/patterns, though a page builder may be proposed if well justified. Elementor and Joomla are excluded. Scope CMS: WordPress. Our starting point is native WordPress (Gutenberg/patterns), without a page builder plugin. A page builder (e.g. Bricks, Beaver Builder, Breakdance) may be proposed if well justified. Elementor and Joomla are excluded. Language: Dutch only for now, but the CMS setup must be extendable to additional languages later without a rebuild. Hosting: our own hosting with Greenhost (not your responsibility to arrange; we'll provide access). Sitemap: homepage, "Who we are" (incl. an interactive member map/search of affiliated organizations), "What we do" (themes, projects, publications), "What you can do" (become a member, legacy giving), contact, news (incl. a press page/media kit), privacy policy. Cohesion: theme pages automatically show related news items/projects/publications via a shared taxonomy, no manually maintained, disconnected pages. The site should feel like one connected whole. Section library: a reusable set of 12 content blocks (hero, text+image, stats/key figures, cards grid, quote, CTA, accordion/FAQ, team grid, partner logo strip, video, news overview, member map embed), so we can assemble new pages ourselves. Integrations: newsletter sign-up forms connected to Brevo, styled to match our brand. Accessibility: WCAG 2.1 AA. Branding: delivered by an external agency (logo, colors, style guide); you translate this into a responsive web design. How we like to work This matters to us as much as technical skill: we want to be actively involved, not just receive a finished "black box." On some parts we'd like to build alongside you, and in general we want to genuinely understand how the site works, not just receive it. Concretely, we're looking for someone who: Walks us through what was built and why at each milestone (e.g. a short screen-share session), not just a list of completed tasks Is happy to explain and teach, not only deliver Is open to doing certain small tasks together (to be agreed together), so we can eventually handle simple additions ourselves Approach and budget Fixed price per milestone (no open-ended hourly rate). Proposed phasing: Technical foundation (CMS setup, structure) Design implementation (section library in brand style) Functionality (member map, theme linking, press page, forms) Testing & delivery (cross-browser, accessibility, handover) Please submit a quote per milestone, along with your reasoning, so we can compare proposals properly. What we're looking for Demonstrable WordPress experience (please share your portfolio) Experience building accessible websites (WCAG 2.1 AA) Clear, proactive communication in English Someone we can trust to flag risks and complexity honestly, not just say yes to everything All further details (exact content structure, precise functionality, timeline) we're happy to discuss directly with candidates we shortlist for an interview, we'll share our full, detailed requirements document at that point.
