WordPress + Stripe Developer — Finish & Launch a Subscription Directory (Italian market)
Worldwide
PROJECT OVERVIEW I run Dogsify, an Italian directory and discovery platform for dog-related businesses (breeders, vets, groomers, boarding, etc.), built on WordPress with a custom theme and custom functionality. The site is in the final pre-launch stage and I need an experienced developer to pick up an existing codebase on a staging environment and complete the critical items needed to go live cleanly. This is a finish-and-launch engagement, not a build-from-scratch. Most of the work is done. A separate sysadmin handles server infrastructure and the staging-to-production push, so you focus on the application and code side. I will provide a detailed handover document and staging access to the developer I select. WHAT IS ALREADY BUILT - Custom search, navigation and discovery front-end - A Stripe-native subscription system (Stripe Checkout, Customer Portal and Webhooks) with three tiers, webhook event handling, WordPress user-meta sync, downgrade-on-expiry logic, and a reminder-email cron with idempotency - Italian B2B billing fields already present on the user profile (Ragione Sociale, Partita IVA, Codice Fiscale, SDI, PEC) - A listing claim flow (submit, admin review, account creation) - Custom post types and taxonomies for listings, breeds, interviews and editorial content SCOPE — CRITICAL ITEMS FOR GO-LIVE 1. Verify custom post type registration, then a controlled plugin cleanup on staging: confirm which code registers each core CPT (services, breeds, interviews, listing_claim), then remove legacy ecommerce and marketplace plugins (WooCommerce, WCFM and related) safely, tested on staging, checking for orphaned data and broken URLs. NOTE: the multilingual WPML stack must be KEPT for launch — do not remove it. 2. Stripe tax_behavior fix: create new Price objects with inclusive tax behavior (VAT-inclusive 99 EUR and 199 EUR) and repoint Checkout to them. 3. Complete the Italian billing fields at Checkout: the fields already exist on the user profile; finish capturing them at Stripe Checkout, validate them (Partita IVA, Codice Fiscale, SDI, PEC, with an SDI-or-PEC requirement), store them to user meta, and display them in admin. Collection only — no external invoicing or SDI transmission. 4. Full end-to-end QA on staging against a checklist I will provide (subscription flows, tiers, downgrade-on-expiry, reminder emails, claim flow, VAT-inclusive pricing, etc.). 5. Support the sysadmin on the WP-CLI production push and a short post-launch stabilization period (bug-fixing of launch issues). Some smaller enhancements (claim-flow polish, SEO plugin setup, multilingual-stack removal, analytics) are OUT OF SCOPE for this engagement and may be handled as separate work later. REQUIRED SKILLS - Strong WordPress development (custom themes, custom post types, taxonomies, ACF PRO, WP-Cron, user meta) - Solid Stripe experience: Checkout, Customer Portal, Webhooks, Price and tax behavior, subscription lifecycle - Comfortable safely picking up and extending an EXISTING codebase, not rebuilding - PHP, WordPress REST API, debugging in a staging-to-production workflow - Clear written English NICE TO HAVE - Familiarity with the Italian market and Italian B2B invoicing fields (Partita IVA, Codice Fiscale, SDI, PEC)
