Workday Adaptive Planning Developer

We are seeking an experienced Workday Adaptive Planning Consultant for an initial 3-month contract supporting the implementation of a new financial consolidation environment for a U.S.-based organization. This is a hands-on implementation role. The consultant will work with our finance, data, and technical teams to configure Workday Adaptive Planning for multi-entity financial consolidation, connect ERP/GL actuals, implement consolidation and elimination logic, and support validation and testing. The ideal candidate has personally implemented Workday Adaptive Planning financial consolidation solutions and understands the accounting and technical requirements behind multi-entity consolidation. This is not a general Workday HCM role. Primary Responsibilities Workday Adaptive Configuration Configure and support the Workday Adaptive Planning environment, including: Company and legal-entity structures Organizational hierarchies and levels Chart of accounts Financial dimensions Actual, budget, and forecast versions Account mappings Consolidation structures Intercompany elimination rules Debit/credit consolidation logic Approval workflows User roles and security Standard financial reporting structures Financial Consolidation Work with the finance team to implement a repeatable consolidation process supporting: Multi-entity consolidation Entity rollups Intercompany eliminations Local-to-group chart-of-account mappings Consolidated income statement Consolidated balance sheet Consolidated cash flow statement Historical financial loads Monthly consolidation cycles A key requirement will be validating results against the organization's existing consolidation process. ERP / GL Data Integration Work with the data engineering team to map ERP financial data into Adaptive. The source environment includes SAP financial data, with integration into Adaptive through an established data/integration layer. Responsibilities will include: Defining required Adaptive data structures Mapping ERP/GL accounts to Adaptive accounts Mapping organizational/entity structures Supporting source-to-target mappings Reviewing historical data-loading requirements Supporting integration troubleshooting Validating SAP/ERP → integration layer → Adaptive financial balances Performing financial tie-outs between systems The consultant will primarily own the Adaptive side of the integration while collaborating with SAP and data engineering resources responsible for source-data preparation. Testing & Validation Support structured testing of the consolidation environment, including: Unit testing Finance user acceptance testing Consolidation reconciliation Source-to-target validation Parallel financial close testing Issue identification and remediation Go-live readiness assessment The implementation will ultimately be validated by comparing Adaptive cons Required Experience Candidates should have strong hands-on experience with: Workday Adaptive Planning Financial consolidation implementations Multi-entity financial reporting Intercompany eliminations Financial statement consolidation Chart-of-account mapping Adaptive dimensions, levels, versions, and accounts Adaptive reporting and dashboards Adaptive data integration ERP/GL-to-Adaptive integrations Financial reconciliation and testing UAT and parallel-close support You should be comfortable working directly with controllers, FP&A professionals, accountants, data engineers, and technical architects. You should be able to look at an existing consolidation model or finance design and quickly determine: How it should be represented in Adaptive. What dimensions, hierarchies, accounts, and mappings are required. How consolidation and intercompany rules should be configured. What data is required from the source ERP. How to validate that Adaptive results tie back to the financial system of record. We do not need someone learning Adaptive Planning during this engagement.
