Summary

YouTube Channel Manager — Decoded Genius About the role Decoded Genius is hiring a YouTube Channel Manager to own the day-to-day operation and growth of our YouTube channels. This is not primarily an editing role. You’ll be responsible for making sure every piece of content moves smoothly from finished edit to published video — with the right title, thumbnail, description, timing, and strategy behind it. You’ll work closely with our editors, thumbnail designers, producers, and leadership team to keep the content pipeline organized, maintain a high quality bar, and continuously improve channel performance. If you understand YouTube deeply, obsess over titles and thumbnails, watch analytics closely, and know how to keep a content team moving, this role is for you. What you’ll do Own the content pipeline. Keep track of every long-form episode, clip, and piece of content from post-production through publication. Manage the editing workflow. Coordinate with editors through Slack and Frame.io, track deadlines, communicate feedback, and make sure videos are completed on schedule. Quality control. Review videos before publication to catch editing issues, audio problems, missing graphics, incorrect information, or anything else that doesn’t meet the Decoded Genius standard. Publish to YouTube. Handle uploads, descriptions, chapters, tags, end screens, cards, playlists, scheduling, and other channel optimization. Manage the content calendar. Maintain a clear publishing schedule across long-form episodes, clips, Shorts, and other content. Analyze performance. Monitor CTR, retention, watch time, traffic sources, subscriber growth, and other key metrics. Identify opportunities. Look at what is working — and what isn’t — and make recommendations around packaging, topics, clips, hooks, video structure, and publishing strategy. Run experiments. Test new thumbnails, titles, publishing strategies, formats, and other ideas that could improve channel performance. Coordinate the team. Be the central point of communication between editors, thumbnail designers, producers, and leadership so everyone knows what needs to happen and when. Own the channel. Ultimately, if something is going live on Decoded Genius, you’re responsible for making sure it’s ready and positioned to perform. What we’re looking for • Proven experience managing or growing YouTube channels • Strong understanding of YouTube analytics and the YouTube algorithm • Deep understanding of titles, thumbnails, CTR, retention, and watch time • Experience managing long-form YouTube content, ideally podcasts or interview-based channels • Strong project-management and organizational skills • Comfortable coordinating editors, designers, and other creatives • Experience with YouTube Studio, Frame.io, and Slack • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail • Ability to recognize what makes a video clickable and what keeps viewers watching • Reliable, proactive, and deadline-driven • Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do Bonus points • You’ve helped grow a YouTube channel to 100K+ subscribers • You’ve worked on a major podcast or interview channel • You have experience with thumbnail/title A/B testing • You understand YouTube Shorts and clipping strategy • You can look at retention graphs and identify exactly where and why viewers are dropping off • You follow creators and channels like Diary of a CEO, The Iced Coffee Hour, Modern Wisdom, Lex Fridman, or similar long-form interview shows Take a look at the channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@decodedgenius
