Summary

YouTube Documentary Video Editor – French Speaking Channel (Long-Term Opportunity) Compensation We are looking for a partner who can combine production quality with a strong value-for money ratio. This is not a "low-cost" budget: we invest in polished, professional editing, but within a controlled budget that fits a channel currently in its growth phase. We prefer a fixed monthly rate for a long-term collaboration. As the channel grows, the budget allocated to editing is expected to grow as well. Please include your expected monthly or per-video rate in your application. Applicants seeking significantly higher compensation may still apply, but priority will be given to candidates offering the best balance between work quality and rate. Expected Workload At least 3 long-form videos per week (a minimum of approximately 12 videos per month), around 30 minutes each. Workload may increase depending on channel needs. About Us We run a French-language, faceless YouTube channel focused on: Historical mysteries and archaeology Ancient civilizations Megaliths and unexplained discoveries Documentary-style storytelling We are working to bring our channel to a more polished, immersive, and visually refined level than our current content — while keeping a reasonable and responsible budget. We are looking for a genuine win-win partnership, not the lowest rate on the market. Important This position is not for basic video editing. We are looking for an editor who can turn a script and voice-over into a truly immersive documentary experience, combining visual research, footage sourcing, animation, motion design, and pacing — with an excellent value-for-money ratio rather than a premium rate. Strict deadline compliance and responsive communication are eliminatory criteria. An editor who is late on deliveries or unreachable for several days will not be retained, regardless of the artistic quality of the edit. What We Provide Complete script Voice-over recording (AI-generated, professional quality) Background music (provided by us for each video) Reference video(s) to illustrate the expected style Creative direction and feedback at every stage Your Responsibilities Edit high-retention YouTube videos (long-form, around 30 minutes) Independently source all necessary visuals: stock footage, photos, maps, graphics, animations, AI-generated images (good quality), and B-roll Add motion graphics, zooms, transitions, and visual storytelling elements Integrate the provided music and add sound effects suited to the documentary tone Follow the editing style of our reference videos Consistently deliver projects on the agreed schedule (ideally 48–72 hours per video, depending on complexity) — any unannounced delay will be considered a serious issue Respond quickly to messages (within 24 hours max on weekdays) regarding progress, feedback, or any project-related question Revise videos based on feedback when necessary Requirements Strong experience editing YouTube videos, ideally documentary-style Native-level or near-native fluency in French (written and spoken), at minimum a very strong command of the language: we target a French-speaking audience, and videos must never feel machine-translated from English. A solid grasp of the rhythm and nuances of the language is essential. Excellent storytelling and pacing skills Ability to keep viewers engaged throughout long-form content Proficiency with Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or similar soware (your choice of tool — only the result matters) Ability to independently source visuals and assets Absolute reliability on deadlines and responsive communication (eliminatory criterion in case of repeated failure) Attention to detail Stable internet connection for exchanging large files Ability to deliver a quality result within a reasonable production budget Preferred Experience Experience editing channels similar to: Underscore_ Nota Bene Passé Sauvage Le Précepteur Or English-language documentary channels such as Fern, Wendover Productions, MagnatesMedia, RealLifeLore (feel free to mention your own references) Important Application Instructions To confirm you have read this entire job posting: 1. Include the word MEGALITHE as the second line of your application. 2. Record a short 30–60 second Loom video (or equivalent) introducing yourself and explaining why you are a good fit for this position. This video must be recorded in French. 3. Provide a roughly 2-minute editing sample (existing or made specifically for this application) showcasing your work quality: visual sourcing, pacing, motion design, sound design. 4. Answer all application questions below. Applications that do not follow these instructions will be automatically rejected. Application Questions 1. Send links to your 3 best YouTube videos that you personally edited and explain your role in each project. 2. Which editing soware do you use? 3. How many years of YouTube editing experience do you have? 4. Have you edited documentary, history, or storytelling channels before? 5. If I provide only a script, a voice-over, and background music, can you source all footage, images, maps, and graphics yourself? Please explain your process. 6. What YouTube channels inspire your editing style? 7. How many 25–35 minute documentary videos can you realistically edit per month? 8. How many hours per week are available for this project? 9. What is your internet speed? 10. What monthly or per-video compensation are you seeking? Please provide a rate that reflects a strong value-for-money balance, suited to a growing project. 11. Can you guarantee a 48–72 hour delivery turnaround per video and a response to our messages within 24 hours max? If not, please specify your actual availability. Final Selection Process Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a roughly 2-minute sample edit using a script, voice-over recording, music, and reference video that we provide. The purpose of this test is to evaluate: Storytelling ability Editing style Visual sourcing skills Pacing and viewer retention Sound design (music integration + sound effects) Attention to detail Ability to follow instructions Respect of the test deadline (a direct indicator of future reliability) Please do not apply if you are unwilling to complete the sample edit. Due to the expected volume of applications, only candidates selected for the next stage will receive the test materials. Long-Term Opportunity We are building a French-language YouTube channel with the ambition to grow in both quality and volume, following a progressive growth strategy and a controlled budget. We are looking for a reliable editor to grow with us long-term. Strong performers will receive: Higher monthly compensation as the channel's budget grows Performance bonuses Additional editing projects Opportunities to work across multiple future channels If you are passionate about creating engaging documentary-style content, reliable on deadlines, responsive in communication, and looking for a trust-based partnership with a strong value-for-money balance, we would love to hear from you. Note (French speakers only): since this channel targets a French-speaking audience, native or near-native French fluency is mandatory. The Loom introduction video must be recorded in French — this is how we verify real language proficiency, not just what's written in your application
