YouTube Documentary Video Editor — Paid Test + Ongoing Long-Form Work

We are building a new long-form YouTube documentary channel focused on **economics, housing, business, and American-life stories**. We are looking for a video editor with strong visual storytelling instincts who may become part of our ongoing production workflow. ### Initial Project This first project is a **paid sixty-to-ninety-second editing test** taken from an approximately eleven-to-twelve-minute documentary. We will provide: - Final narration - Final script - Visual direction/storyboard - Organized stock footage and images - Reference/source material - Licensed visual and audio assets where applicable You will **not** be responsible for researching or writing the story. Your job is to turn the narration and provided materials into a polished, engaging documentary sequence. ### What We Are Looking For We want someone who understands **long-form YouTube retention and documentary storytelling**. The edit should feel intelligent, polished, and visually engaging without becoming overly fast or distracting. We are looking for: - Strong pacing around narration - Thoughtful B-roll selection and placement - Effective use of photographs, maps, documents, headlines, and data - Clean motion graphics - Simple animated charts or statistics where useful - Subtle movement on still images - Tasteful music and sound design - Professional documentary/video-essay presentation We do **not** want hyperactive Shorts-style editing, constant animated captions, excessive effects, meme editing, or random stock footage that does not support the narration. ### Software **DaVinci Resolve experience is strongly preferred.** If you use another professional editing platform, you may still apply, but please tell us which software you use. ### Copyright and Licensing All assets must be properly licensed for commercial YouTube use. Do not use footage, photographs, music, or graphics taken from YouTube or elsewhere online unless they are appropriately licensed. ### Potential Ongoing Work If the paid test goes well, the next step would be editing the complete approximately eleven-to-twelve-minute documentary. Our longer-term goal is approximately **one high-quality long-form video every seven to nine days**. ### When Applying Please include: 1.
