YouTube Editor Needed – Fitness / Travel Documentary in Phuket

Summary

I'm looking for an experienced long-form YouTube editor to help turn a full day of training on Fitness Street in Phuket, Thailand into a high-quality, story-driven YouTube video. This isn't a standard workout video. The concept follows me through an entire day training across Fitness Street, moving between different gyms, training styles, coaches, people and experiences. The goal is to make the viewer feel like they've actually spent a day on Fitness Street with me. ## The project All footage has already been filmed. The video follows a full day on Fitness Street and includes: * Multiple training sessions * Different gyms and locations * Interactions with coaches and people along the way * Talking-to-camera sections * Walking and travel sequences between locations * Training footage and montages * B-roll of Fitness Street * Natural and unscripted moments throughout the day There is a significant amount of raw footage, so I'm looking for someone who can make strong editorial decisions and find the best story within the footage rather than simply assembling everything chronologically. I'm expecting the finished video to be approximately 15–25 minutes, although I'm happy for the final length to be determined by what makes the strongest video. ## Editing style / creative references I'm looking for a modern, high-retention YouTube editing style that sits somewhere between fitness, travel, documentary and personality-led storytelling. Some of the channels whose editing and storytelling I particularly like are: * Will Tennyson * Magnus Midtbø * Jesse James West * Nick Bare Will Tennyson and Magnus Midtbø are probably the closest references for what I'm trying to achieve. I like the way their videos take an experience or relatively simple concept and turn it into an actual story rather than just showing events in chronological order. I'm not looking for somebody to copy these creators. I'm looking for an editor who understands why their long-form videos hold attention and can apply similar storytelling principles to my own personality, footage and Fitness Street series. The finished video should feel polished, energetic and cinematic while still feeling natural. I don't want it to feel like a 20-minute TikTok. There should be high-energy sequences, but there should also be moments where conversations, atmosphere and personality are allowed to breathe. ## Some of the things I'm looking for * A very strong first 30–60 seconds * A compelling cold open / hook * Clear story progression * Strong audience-retention instincts * Good pacing throughout * Aggressive removal of anything that doesn't contribute to the story * Cinematic training montages * Strong music selection * Professional sound design * B-roll layered naturally over dialogue * Natural humour and personality * Punch-ins, reframing and subtle visual movement where appropriate * Pattern interrupts without over-editing * On-screen text and graphics when they genuinely add something * Smooth transitions between different training sessions and locations * Building curiosity around what happens next * Natural interactions with coaches and people preserved * A satisfying payoff toward the end of the video More than anything, I want the viewer to feel like they're experiencing Fitness Street rather than simply watching me complete a series of workouts. ## What I'm looking for in an editor I'm specifically looking for someone who understands long-form YouTube. Knowing Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut isn't enough on its own. I'm looking for somebody who understands: * YouTube storytelling * Audience retention * Pacing * Hooks * Payoffs * Music * Comedy and personality * When to cut * When to let a moment breathe * How to create momentum across a 15–25 minute video You should be comfortable going through a large amount of footage and making editorial decisions without needing me to specify every individual cut. Experience editing any of the following would be particularly useful: * Established YouTube channels * Fitness content * Travel videos * Vlogs * Documentary-style content * Sports * Combat sports * Adventure content * Personality-led YouTube videos ## About Fitness Street Fitness Street is a fitness and combat sports destination based around Soi Ta-iad in Phuket, Thailand. The street and surrounding area includes Muay Thai and MMA gyms, strength and conditioning facilities, CrossFit-style training, recovery facilities, healthy restaurants and athletes from around the world. My YouTube series documents the gyms, athletes, coaches, characters and experiences that make Fitness Street unique. My channel: youtube.com/@bradnewton I'm currently investing heavily into improving the storytelling and production quality of the Fitness Street series. If this project goes well, there is potential for ongoing work across future Fitness Street videos. ## Deliverables * 1 completed long-form YouTube video * Approximately 15–25 minutes * Strong opening hook / cold open * Complete video edit * Music * Sound design * B-roll integration * Colour correction / grading * Basic motion graphics and titles where appropriate * YouTube-ready final export * Project files supplied on completion * 1–2 reasonable revision rounds ## Budget I'm open to proposals depending on experience and portfolio quality. As a general guide, I'm expecting approximately US$250–$1,000 for this project, with flexibility for an editor whose work is clearly at a higher level. ## When applying Please send me: 1. 2–3 examples of your strongest long-form YouTube edits 2. Examples of fitness, travel, vlog, sports or documentary-style content you've edited, if available 3. Details of any established YouTube creators or channels you've worked with 4. A short explanation of how you approach audience retention in a 15–25 minute YouTube video 5. A few sentences explaining how you would approach this particular Fitness Street video 6. Your preferred editing software 7. Your availability 8. Your estimated price for the project Please don't send me a huge generic portfolio. I'd much rather watch two exceptional long-form YouTube videos that demonstrate storytelling, pacing and retention than twenty unrelated examples. I'm looking for somebody who wants to help make a genuinely strong YouTube video, not simply complete an editing task. If you understand the style of channels like Will Tennyson and Magnus Midtbø and have experience turning raw footage into compelling long-form YouTube stories, I'd love to see your work.
