YouTube Scriptwriter and Clip Researcher for Funny Moments Channels (Ongoing, Long-Term)

Summary

About us We're 666 Media, a video production company running a portfolio of YouTube channels. We produce 600+ videos every month with a team of 15+ freelancers: editors, designers, writers, and researchers. We're scaling fast and building a long-term team to grow with us. We're not looking for one-off gig work. We want people who take pride in what they make, who we can rely on consistently, and who we'd genuinely enjoy working with day to day. Read this first (it will save us both time) This role is not really about writing long scripts. It's about clip research. On our funny moments channels, the video lives or dies on the clips you find, not the words you write. If you're not excited to spend most of your time digging through the internet to find the best, funniest, least-used clips, this role is not for you. Here's the reality of the job: - The first 30 seconds to the first 3 minutes of every video decide whether it goes viral. Most of the audience either stays or leaves in that window. Your job is to make that opening better than every competitor - You'll spend roughly 90% of your time researching clips and 10% writing. Taking 2-3 days to find the right clips for one video is completely fine - The characters we cover have limited clips in the market, and competitors have already used most of the obvious ones. Your edge is finding the gold nobody has overused: clips that are genuinely funny, have worked in the past, and haven't been run into the ground - Scripts are simple: a strong opening claim, then the clips carry the story. Narration is used lightly, mostly to add context and protect monetisation, not to fill space. Viewers in this niche dislike heavy commentary unless it adds to the joke What the opening looks like Big, simple claim up front. Something that sets an expectation the viewer has to stick around for. Then you lead with a banger clip, either an underused funny moment or a proven intro style that hasn't been overused. That combination is what hooks people in the first 10 seconds. Your responsibilities: - Research and source the best, funniest, least-used clips for each video - Rank and choose clips that have proven themselves but aren't overused - Write simple, high-retention scripts around those clips with a strong opening claim - Balance narration and no-narration formats as directed - Deliver on schedule, ready for production Who we want - Proven scriptwriting or content research experience for YouTube, ideally in funny moments, commentary, or entertainment niches - Someone who genuinely understands retention and viewer psychology: why people click, why they stay, why they leave - A researcher at heart. You enjoy hunting for content most people would never find - Currently or recently working with an active, successful YouTube channel (we'll ask) - Strong, clear communicator, reliable, consistent Important: we are looking for someone who can already do this at a high level. We are not looking to train or heavily guide anyone. If a script comes back and needs to be fixed or rewritten by us, it's not the right fit. We say this with full respect, it's simply the standard the role requires. Pay To give you an idea, our writers range from around $20 per script up to $100+ for the right person. But there is no fixed budget here, it's about ROI. Paying you is an investment: if your scripts and clip research bring us more profit than cheaper writers, we will happily pay you more than anyone else would. If a cheaper writer brings the same or better results, we go with them. Prove the return and the rate is never a problem. Paid on time, every time. Your work will be measured against our current writers and competitor benchmarks (retention, views, profit per video). The numbers decide, not the rate card.
