We’re hiring 2 Video Editors. But probably not the kind you’re thinking of. At Mile 80, editors don’t just edit. They are one of the fundamental forces behind the direction of the work. Our editors start the timelines. They find the story. They shape the storyboard. They decide what needs to be designed, what needs to move, what needs VFX, what needs to be shot, and sometimes what needs to be completely reinvented. Then they work directly with our design, animation, VFX and production teams to make sure that vision is executed exactly as they see it. So yes, you need to be a great editor. But taste in motion, design and VFX is mandatory. We’re looking for artists who can take a folder of footage, stock, stills, graphics, bad references and half an idea — and somehow turn it into something nobody expected. We are not looking for shorts/reels editors. We are not looking for wedding editors. We are not looking for documentary editors. We are not looking for traditional scripted-commercial editors. There are a lot of very good editors doing those things. We’re looking for the other ones. The strange ones. The ones who open an empty timeline and see a film that doesn't exist yet. The ones who think like directors, designers, animators and VFX artists — while editing. The ones who aren't waiting for someone else to tell them what the video should be.
