Summary

MA’RŪF – CREATIVE SUMMARY FOR TWO COMEDY FILMS Project aim Create two short, original and genuinely funny live-action films that introduce the personality of Ma’rūf through behaviour rather than explanation. The films should feel like short comedy sketches, not conventional drinks advertisements. The central creative principle is: Ma’rūf people don’t make everything a problem. This is not necessarily the final slogan. It is the behavioural idea that should guide both stories. Creative freedom The production team has significant creative freedom to develop the two stories. We are deliberately not prescribing exact scripts, characters, locations or endings. Producers are encouraged to: • Develop original situations. • Introduce unexpected or slightly absurd circumstances. • Find stronger comedy than the examples provided. • Choose characters and locations that make the joke work best. • Change the setup, escalation and payoff if it improves the film. • Use visual humour, pauses, expressions and physical comedy. • Create recurring devices that could later become part of a wider Ma’rūf campaign. • Suggest an entirely different story if it communicates the Ma’rūf personality more effectively. The objective is not to reproduce a story we have already written. We want filmmakers to bring their own creative ability. However, the films must remain inside the Ma’rūf personality and production principles below. The Ma’rūf person The central character should feel: • Composed. • Capable. • Creative. • Confident without being loud. • Resourceful. • Comfortable when things do not go perfectly. • Able to see humour in inconvenience. • Unlikely to panic or overreact. • Able to adapt and continue. The character is not passive. They simply refuse to waste energy making a small situation bigger than it needs to be. The drink does not transform them. They already possess these qualities. Core story pattern Each film should broadly follow this structure: Normal situation Begin somewhere ordinary and immediately understandable. Examples could include: • Dinner. • Wedding. • Restaurant. • Hotel. • Travel. • Shopping. • Driving. • Party. • Holiday. • Family occasion. • Public place. • Everyday social situation. Something goes wrong Introduce one simple problem or mistake. It should be understandable immediately without lengthy dialogue. Escalation Allow the situation to become slightly more awkward, inconvenient or absurd. Other characters may begin overreacting. The escalation should increase the comedy without making the production complicated. The Ma’rūf response The Ma’rūf person does not panic. They may: • Solve the problem simply. • Adapt. • Accept the situation. • Find an unexpected use for what is available. • Carry on as though the situation is not worth ruining the day over. Their reaction should be the heart of the comedy. Final payoff There should be one strong final visual joke or behavioural moment. The best ending should make the viewer smile because the Ma’rūf person has taken the situation further than expected. Ma’rūf moment The product should appear naturally. This may simply be: • Character sits down. • Reaches for Ma’rūf. • Can opens. • Crisp “psst”. • Sip. • End frame. The drink should not dominate the story. Simple ending Finish with one short Ma’rūf statement. Possible language may include: • Sparkling Composure. • Ma’rūf. The hand that doesn’t shake. • No hype. No jitters. Just presence. • When the world gets loud, your drink should know better. • For people who keep their heads and get things done. Final wording will be selected after the creative concepts are approved.
