I also prefer to have a proper kick-off meeting with larger projects to open up the communication and get a proper idea of project scope, communication is VERY important in this job.
A professional will also stand behind the work they produce and address any issues in a professional way, these are normally a result of insufficient data in the planning stage or changes to the scope midway through, hence why communication is so important.
ABOUT ME
I am a passionate highly skilled and experienced 3D Artist. I started modelling when I was a young and have always been a creative person ,I was building models as long ago as 1976, and as soon as I was old enough to use a computer, I started modelling using 3D Software. I do this on a daily basis, both for work and for fun. I am constantly pushing myself to excel and learn new techniques as well as perfect them. I’m always staying current with techniques and trends in the industry.
I am expert in all types of modelling, from Polygon to NURB's and sculpting
I work on Environments, Props, Vehicles with boats and ships being my niche, I also have a full blown workshop where I build miniatures with the latest technology like CNC and resin printing.
I primarily use Maya and know how to render, light and build materials in Most PBR based renderers, mainly Redshift these days, and also how to build materials in UE5.
My last position was as the environment and prop artist at Plastic Wax where I worked on some major game trailers, sometimes alone. I also worked for Pixel Zoo for a while doing characters and environments, I was the go to when things were behind schedule as I am fast. I also taught Game Dev for 6 years for a college.
I have also done Architectural Visualisation for many years, both renders and real-time including VR interactive experiences.
I have worked with scans in many contexts, sometimes for props or as a base for character equipment but also in an engineering role such as restoration of real ships. I have also taken images and assemble my own scans in Agisoft for the base of resin printed models.
I am a very experienced Hard Surface modeller and have worked on vehicles, weapons, buildings and everything in between. I can also put my hand characters, although it is not my primary skill. The work I did at Pixel Zoo showcases just some of the character work I can do.
I enjoy UV work and am fast and accurate with it. I use Rizom for my own work these days.
I know how to texture in Photoshop but more Substance these days, I also have a Mari licence for jobs that require large multi UDIM textures.
I have plenty of experience with studio pipelines and have also helped set them up, Plastic Wax being the most recent. I can also do Previz work and lighting.
I have accreditation in UE5 from Epic and have been using it since UE2 and can also do cloth work in Marvellous Designer.
