I build and modernize backend systems in Java and Kotlin, and I have been doing it for 16 years. Most of that has been owning things end to end, not just closing tickets. I built and still run the entire backend of a scheduling app used by several million people, on Spring Boot and AWS, including a distributed scheduler with custom leader election so it never double-fires across instances. A few things I go deep on: Backend and architecture. Spring Boot and Spring Cloud (currently Java 25 and Boot 4 in production), REST and GraphQL APIs, microservices and modular monoliths. On one platform I designed a custom typed-RPC layer with Java to TypeScript code generation, so the backend stays the single source of truth and the frontend never drifts out of sync. Authentication done properly. OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT and Keycloak: realm, client and role setup, gateway login with token relay, JWKS validation, and service to service client credentials. I have also built a full OAuth2 authorization server from scratch. Integrations and messaging. Payments across Stripe, Google Play, Huawei and local gateways, WhatsApp Business and the Meta Cloud API end to end, and event-driven pipelines with RabbitMQ. I also contribute to an open-source WhatsApp Business Java SDK. On the AI side I have wired OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, ElevenLabs and Spring AI into real products. Cloud and delivery. I own the pipeline, not just the code: AWS (ECS, ECR, CloudFront), Google Cloud and Kubernetes, Docker, and observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana and New Relic. When a project needs it I take the frontend too, senior level Angular and React, including real-time dashboards and analytics built from scratch. A lot of my work has been for banks, telecoms, government platforms and startups, the kind of systems that have to keep running while you change them. Clean, maintainable code, honest estimates, and I stay for the long haul.
