Community Outreach Lead (Part-Time / In-Person)

Park Slope Community Engagement Ambassador Location: Park Slope, Brooklyn Type: Part-time, temporary pilot Schedule: Approximately 6–22 hours per week Pilot: Two to four weeks, with potential to continue Start date: Week of August 31 About Rainyday Rainyday is a new mobile app for parents. We are looking for a confident, dependable Community Engagement Ambassador to help introduce Rainyday to local parents, caregivers, businesses, and family-focused organizations. This is an in-person community outreach role for someone who communicates well, works independently, and can represent Rainyday with warmth and professionalism. This is not door-to-door sales, political canvassing, or a commission-only role. Responsibilities: Visit approved Park Slope businesses and community locations Introduce Rainyday to business owners, staff members, parents, and caregivers using approved messaging Ask businesses for permission to display Rainyday postcards and QR-code materials Conduct approved sidewalk outreach and hand postcards to local parents and caregivers Lead conversations at weekend playground tables and neighborhood activations Help set up and break down tables, signs, postcards, bottled water, packaged snacks, balloons, and other materials Gather parent feedback, recurring questions, and potential partnership opportunities Track locations visited, conversations, materials distributed, and outcomes after each shift Escalate detailed questions or concerns to the Rainyday team Qualifications: Two or more years of relevant professional experience preferred Experience in outreach, events, education, childcare, hospitality, retail, customer service, field marketing, nonprofit work, or another public-facing role Strong verbal communication Confidence speaking with business owners, professionals, parents, and caregivers Demonstrated reliability and ability to work independently Good professional judgment and the ability to follow approved messaging Comfortable using a smartphone, online form, or digital tracker Familiarity with Park Slope or nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods Available for weekday daytime, early-evening, and weekend shifts Comfortable walking and standing outdoors for several hours No college degree is required.
