Director of SEO & Growth — Local SEO / AI Visibility

I’m building a contractor-focused agency that helps local businesses grow through better websites, SEO, Google Business Profile optimization, local authority, and AI search visibility. I’m looking for an experienced SEO strategist who wants to help build and oversee the system—not just complete isolated tasks. This is a flexible, hands-on advisory and management role with the potential to grow into a major long-term position within the company. ### What you’ll oversee * Lead initial client discovery and strategy calls * Audit websites, SEO, GBP, competitors, and local visibility * Build clear 90-day and long-term growth strategies * Set priorities and direct the production team * Review website, content, technical SEO, schema, and internal linking work * Oversee Local SEO, GBP optimization, citations, and backlink quality * Make sure outsourced work meets a high standard * Help build and improve our SOPs, reporting, and fulfillment systems * Advise me and the team on what will actually drive rankings, leads, and retention ### Who I’m looking for Someone with proven experience growing local businesses through SEO, especially home-service companies such as electricians, plumbers, HVAC contractors, roofers, or similar businesses. You should understand: * Local and technical SEO * Google Business Profile optimization * Website and content strategy * Citations and link building * Conversion-focused website improvements * AI and search visibility * Client communication and account strategy I want someone who can explain why something should be done, catch poor-quality work, challenge weak ideas, and help us build a repeatable system that produces real results. ### Compensation I’m open to an hourly rate, monthly retainer, or a hybrid structure. The position will also include a percentage of recurring client revenue so incentives stay aligned. As the client base grows and retains, your compensation grows with it. The goal is to build a high-quality, contractor-focused agency with strong systems, smart automation, excellent work, and measurable results.
