Healthcare API Integration Developer – PatientNow EMR to Kaduceus Pharmacy

Job Description We are looking for an experienced healthcare API integration developer to build an integration between PatientNow EMR and Kaduceus Pharmacy. The objective of this project is to establish a reliable and secure integration that allows PatientNow to exchange the required patient, prescription, provider, order, and/or related clinical information with Kaduceus Pharmacy through their respective APIs. API documentation for Kaduceus Pharmacy will be provided. Access to the appropriate PatientNow API documentation and environments will also be coordinated as part of the project. Scope of Work The primary objective of this integration is to enable patients using PatientNow to receive shipment and tracking information for prescriptions/orders fulfilled by Kaduceus Pharmacy. The developer will be responsible for: * Reviewing the PatientNow and Kaduceus Pharmacy APIs to determine the appropriate integration architecture. * Understanding the prescription/order workflow between PatientNow and Kaduceus Pharmacy and identifying how records can be reliably matched between the two systems. * Identifying the Kaduceus API endpoints, webhooks, or other mechanisms available for retrieving order status, fulfillment status, shipment status, carrier, and tracking information. * Determining how shipment and tracking updates can be communicated back through PatientNow and ultimately delivered or made available to the appropriate patient. * Developing the required API integration and data-mapping logic between Kaduceus and PatientNow. * Implementing an appropriate mechanism for receiving or periodically retrieving shipment and tracking updates from Kaduceus. * Handling status changes, missing tracking information, API errors, retries, duplicate updates, and failed transactions. * Implementing appropriate logging and monitoring so integration activity and failed tracking updates can be diagnosed. * Ensuring patient and prescription/order information is handled securely and in accordance with applicable HIPAA and healthcare data-security requirements. * Testing the complete workflow from prescription/order identification through Kaduceus fulfillment and delivery of tracking information to the patient. * Documenting the integration architecture, API mappings, configuration, error handling, and deployment requirements. * Supporting implementation and production testing. Primary Success Criteria A successful implementation should allow a prescription/order associated with a PatientNow patient to be correlated with the corresponding Kaduceus Pharmacy order and, once shipment information becomes available, ensure the appropriate patient can receive or access the carrier, tracking number, shipment status, and related tracking information. Ideal Candidate We are specifically looking for someone with experience integrating healthcare systems, rather than a developer whose background is limited to general-purpose REST APIs. Direct PatientNow integration experience is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with healthcare data and workflows involving patients, providers, prescriptions/orders, medications, and pharmacy systems. Experience with HL7, FHIR, EMR/EHR APIs, e-prescribing, pharmacy management systems, or similar healthcare interoperability projects is preferred. Because the integration may involve protected health information, the developer should also understand HIPAA requirements and healthcare data-security best practices. When Applying Please include: 1.
