Music Instructor for steady part time position

Recipe for Change is a Chicago nonprofit dedicated to providing culinary arts, music and fine arts training to detainees at Cook County Jail. We believe in the transformative power of arts education to inspire growth, foster discipline and build meaningful skills. Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate, engaging and highly skilled Part-Time Music Instructor to lead music education for our program participants. In this role, you will work directly with students of varying skill levels—from absolute beginners to experienced musicians—helping them discover their musical potential. You will deliver high quality, engaging music lessons (theory, performance or instrumental instruction). Monitor student performance, administer basic curriculum assessments and track progress while maintaining an encouraging and respectful environment conducive to learning within a correctional facility. Qualifications & Requirements: Extensive background in music education, instruction or professional performance. Proven ability to adapt teaching methods for students at different skill levels and learning speeds. Strong communication skills while practicing patience and empathy. Ability to commute on-site to Cook County Jail in South Lawndale (Chicago). Must be willing to successfully clear standard facility security access protocols and background checks.
