Power BI Dashboard Developer — Data Visualization & Business Intelligence

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer / Business Intelligence Specialist to design and build a professional, interactive dashboard for a small business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for connecting and transforming data from multiple sources, developing insightful reports and visualizations, optimizing dashboard performance, and delivering a polished solution that is easy for business stakeholders to use and understand. This is an opportunity for someone who can work independently, understand business requirements, communicate clearly, and turn raw business data into meaningful, actionable insights. Key Responsibilities Connect Power BI to relevant data sources, including spreadsheets, databases, APIs, and other business systems. Clean, transform, and prepare data using Power Query. Design interactive and visually professional Power BI dashboards and reports. Develop accurate data models and establish appropriate relationships between datasets. Create calculated columns, measures, and KPIs using DAX. Implement filters, slicers, drill-downs, drill-throughs, and other interactive reporting features. Optimize reports and data models for speed, reliability, and scalability. Identify and resolve performance issues, inefficient queries, and poorly optimized visualizations. Ensure dashboards present complex information in a clear and user-friendly manner. Apply appropriate data visualization and dashboard design principles. Implement appropriate data security and access controls where required. Test dashboards thoroughly to ensure data accuracy and consistency. Provide documentation or basic guidance on how to maintain and use the completed dashboard. Communicate project progress, challenges, and recommendations clearly throughout the engagement. Required Qualifications Proven professional experience building dashboards and reports with Microsoft Power BI. Strong knowledge of Power Query and data transformation. Strong proficiency with DAX and Power BI calculations. Solid understanding of data modeling, relationships, and business intelligence concepts. Experience working with Excel, CSV, SQL databases, APIs, or similar data sources. Strong understanding of dashboard design and data visualization principles. Experience troubleshooting and improving Power BI report performance. Ability to independently understand requirements and translate them into practical dashboard solutions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines and deliver a polished final product. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with small businesses or startups. Knowledge of SQL and relational databases. Experience integrating multiple data sources into a single reporting environment. Familiarity with Power BI Service, scheduled refreshes, and workspace management. Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS). Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft data/BI tools. Previous experience building KPI dashboards for sales, finance, operations, marketing, or customer analytics.
