Sage Construction Management + QuickBooks Construction Accounting Consultant / Trainer

About the Work: We are a commercial general contractor seeking an experienced construction accounting consultant with hands-on Sage Construction Management and QuickBooks experience. We have an active construction project already underway and need assistance reviewing our current Sage Construction Management and QuickBooks setup, back-entering and reconciling project data, establishing consistent accounting/project-management workflows, and training our internal team to use Sage correctly going forward. This is not simply a bookkeeping/data-entry position. We are looking for someone who understands construction accounting and can help us establish the right processes and controls. Initial Scope: The consultant will assist us with: • Assisting with the Sage/QuickBooks integration and data flow • Evaluating cost codes, budgets, commitments and project accounting structure • Back entering historical project information for an active project • Reconciling Sage project information with QuickBooks • Establishing workflows for: o Subcontracts and purchase orders o Vendor invoices/AP o Job costing o Change orders o Owner billing/pay applications o Subcontractor pay applications o Retainage o Reimbursable costs o Project labor and other direct costs o Month-end project reconciliation • Helping establish responsibility/approval processes between project management and accounting • Training our internal staff on these workflows • Creating practical procedures that our team can follow going forward Required Experience: Strong commercial construction accounting experience using Sage CM (or very similar) is required. Experience with the following is necessary: • Sage Accounting Software (Sage CM Preferred) • QuickBooks Online • Sage/QuickBooks integrations • Commercial construction job costing • CSI cost codes • Subcontracts and purchase orders • AIA-style progress billing • Schedule of Values • Retainage • Change orders • WIP/job-cost reporting • Construction AP and month-end reconciliation Engagement Structure: We anticipate beginning with approximately 5–10 hours of paid discovery and system review. The first objective will be to understand our existing setup, identify problems or missing information, and recommend a cleanup/implementation plan. If the initial engagement is successful, we expect additional work to include historical data cleanup, process implementation, staff training, and potentially ongoing monthly support. Hourly Budget: Approximately $50–$100+/hour depending on experience with direct Sage Construction Management + QuickBooks integration experience.
