Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Web + Mobile)

We’re seeking a senior full-stack engineer to help build and improve a consumer FinTech product. You’ll work across web and mobile platforms, support product development, and help shape technical decisions. The role includes collaborating with product and engineering teams, delivering reliable features, and contributing to a growing product. We’re looking for someone with strong technical judgment, ownership, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Affordia Finance is hiring a senior full-stack engineer to take ownership of our household finance application and carry it through MVP completion, compliance vetting, customer testing, and commercial launch. This is the primary engineering seat on the product — not a task-based gig. We are looking for one accountable owner who will still be with us at launch. About Affordia Finance Affordia is building a household finance application that helps families see, understand, and reduce the real cost of running their household. We connect a household's accounts through Plaid, do the arithmetic families cannot easily do themselves, benchmark their spending against comparable households, and report it back in plain language. Our first customer cohort is households in or near retirement, but the product is designed to serve families across life stages. The company is founder-led, self-funded, and past the concept stage: we have a working application, defined pricing, completed customer research, and a fixed launch calendar. What You Will Own You are taking over an existing React/TypeScript application from a departing contractor. Your first job is to assess what exists, take clean ownership of it, and re-architect it into a maintainable, testable codebase that can carry a paying subscriber base. From there you build. • Codebase ownership. Assume full ownership of the front-end and back-end codebase, including refactoring the current application into a modular, production-grade architecture. • Account aggregation. Build and harden our read-only Plaid integration — institution coverage, item health, re-authentication flows, transaction normalization, categorization accuracy, and graceful handling of partial or missing data. • Mobile delivery. Extend the product from responsive web to a genuine mobile experience. We are open to React Native, a well-built PWA, or another approach you can defend on cost, speed, and App Store risk. • Security and data handling. Implement authentication, encryption in transit and at rest, secrets management, least-privilege data access, and audit logging appropriate to a consumer financial application. • Release infrastructure. Stand up CI/CD, automated testing, error monitoring, and analytics so we can run customer testing cycles and act on what we learn. • Documentation for review. Support compliance review by producing clear technical documentation of data flows, third-party dependencies, storage, and retention. • Commercial readiness. Prepare the application for paid subscriptions across our tiered plans, including billing integration, entitlement logic, and account lifecycle. Timeline and Milestones Work is scoped and paid as fixed-fee milestones. Each milestone has written acceptance criteria agreed before work begins.
