AI Construction Project Engineer

Hi — I'm looking for a construction project engineer or quantity surveyor to join me and my business partner long-term. About us: I run ConstructIQ (youtube.com/@ConstructIQ), a YouTube channel about AI in construction, plus a consulting business (contractoros.build) doing estimating, bid management, and AI workflow builds for contractors in Australia, the US and other countries. The work: a mix of hands-on construction tasks and AI-assisted workflow building. Examples: detailed analysis of construction drawings (counts, dimensions, quantities — verified straight off the sheets), customising AI skills (Claude-based workflows, n8n, zapier) for our consulting clients — takeoffs, estimating, contract admin, document control — and estimating/QTO support as jobs come up. Much of it is careful, detail-driven work where accuracy matters more than speed. We have a developer on the team, so you don't need to code. You need to be curious about AI and willing to learn fast. We pay for your Claude/AI subscriptions and usage. You: - 2+ years in construction (project engineering, QS, estimating, or site engineering) - Confident reading structural, architectural, and services drawings (MEP) - Experience with quantity takeoffs and estimating fundamentals - Fluent written English — you'll write questions, answers, and client-facing docs - Meticulous, careful - Have used Claude or ChatGPT for real work (tell us how) Details: Fully remote, async — no fixed hours Starting part-time; scales up with the work and with you Long-term for the right person, with bonuses as the role grows Paid trial task first (a small drawing-analysis exercise) — this is the real interview Start your proposal with the word "Datum" so I know you read this.
