Frontend Engineer for Web Application

Frontend Engineer 1. Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Frontend Engineer to accelerate the development of our web application. This role is focused on delivering high-quality frontend features, improving the existing codebase, and helping us rapidly ship product improvements. You will work closely with the founding team to build responsive, performant, and production-ready user experiences. As one of our early engineers, you will work directly with the founders and play an important role in shaping the product during its earliest stages. This is an opportunity to collaborate closely with an experienced AI and healthcare team, including founders and advisors with experience at Google DeepMind, Google, Stanford University, and leading healthcare institutions. Your work will have an immediate impact on both the product and our users. 2. Primary Objectives During the engagement, you will be expected to achieve the following objectives: - Build and deliver production-ready frontend features based on product requirements and design specifications. - Continuously improve the usability, responsiveness, and overall customer experience across the web application. - Optimize website performance, loading speed, and frontend responsiveness to deliver a fast and reliable user experience. - Monitor, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve frontend bugs and UI issues in a timely manner to maintain a stable production environment. - Maintain a high-quality, production-ready frontend with minimal regressions and reliable deployments. - Improve and modernize the existing frontend architecture using current best practices and technologies. - Build reusable, maintainable UI components that enable faster future product development. - Collaborate closely with backend engineers to integrate new APIs and product capabilities into the frontend. - Refactor and improve existing frontend code to increase maintainability, scalability, and development velocity. - Ensure compatibility across modern browsers, devices, and screen sizes. - Contribute to deployment readiness by ensuring frontend code is well-tested, documented, and production-ready. 3. Responsibilities - Deliver agreed-upon frontend features and improvements within project timelines. - Develop clean, maintainable, and production-quality React code. - Translate product requirements and design mockups into polished user interfaces. - Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and services. - Optimize application performance and resolve UI bottlenecks. - Proactively identify opportunities to improve the user experience and frontend architecture. - Work closely with the founding team to iterate quickly based on product feedback and evolving priorities. - Participate in technical discussions and provide implementation recommendations. - Review and improve existing frontend implementations where appropriate. - Clearly communicate progress, blockers, and estimated completion timelines. - Ensure all delivered work meets production-quality standards before deployment. 4. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - Strong experience building modern web applications using React. - Excellent knowledge of JavaScript and React. - Experience building responsive and mobile-friendly interfaces. - Experience integrating with RESTful APIs. - Strong understanding of frontend architecture and component-based development. - Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows. - Ability to independently deliver production-ready features with minimal supervision. - Strong debugging and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 5. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with TypeScript. - Experience with Next.js. - Familiarity with Tailwind CSS or similar modern CSS frameworks. - Experience with WebSockets or other real-time communication technologies. - Experience optimizing Core Web Vitals and frontend performance. - Experience building reusable design systems or component libraries. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows. - Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
