WordPress Developer — Ongoing Support & Maintenance (Part-Time, Long-Term)
Worldwide
We're looking for an experienced WordPress developer to serve as our go-to, on-call support person for an existing company website. This is not a build-from-scratch project — we need someone who's comfortable diagnosing and fixing issues on a live, legacy site and making routine updates as we need them. Note: a new feature build project is planned for later down the road, so there's potential for this to grow beyond maintenance work for the right person. What the work looks like: Break/fix support (site errors, broken layouts, plugin conflicts, performance issues, security patches) Routine content updates: new pages, blog posts, image/copy swaps, minor layout tweaks General WordPress housekeeping (updates, backups, troubleshooting) Occasional small enhancements to existing functionality Time commitment: Up to ~10 hours/week, on an as-needed basis (some weeks more, some weeks less/none) We're looking for a long-term working relationship: someone who gets to know our site over time so we're not re-explaining it to someone new every few months Reasonably responsive turnaround on requests (exact SLA to be discussed) About our site: WordPress version: 7.0.2 PHP version: 8.1.34 28 active plugins Built a while back and may use some older/legacy conventions. Happy to share full technical details to qualified candidates. Requirements: Strong hands-on experience with WordPress (theme structure, PHP, common plugins, WP admin) Comfortable working with existing/legacy codebases, not just fresh builds Advanced SEO awareness and capabilities — able to make on-page/technical SEO recommendations and implement them, not just basic meta tags Good communication and responsiveness — this is an on-call relationship, so reliability matters more than raw speed Experience with basic content publishing (pages, posts, media) in addition to backend fixes Nice to have: Experience with site security/hardening and performance optimization Familiarity with common form/CRM integrations (we use HubSpot) Experience managing a site running a large number of active plugins (28+) without performance/conflict issues To apply, please include: A couple examples of legacy WordPress sites you've maintained or fixed (not just built) Your typical turnaround time for small requests
