Ongoing WordPress Developer for a Creative Studio (Direct, Long-Term)
Worldwide
Composie is a creative studio working with international clients. We build and maintain websites in WordPress, and we're looking for an experienced developer to work with us on an ongoing basis. Real developers with supercharged AI workflows. We want someone who knows WordPress deeply and uses AI to move faster and sharper, not to fake expertise they don't have. AI is a force multiplier on top of real skill, not a replacement for it. What you'd work on Editing and extending existing WordPress sites. You should be comfortable stepping into a live, already-built site and working confidently, whether that means themes, page builders, custom fields, plugins, or custom code. Ongoing additions and updates to client sites. Migrating our own studio website into WordPress. New WordPress sites for our clients as they come up. Who we're looking for Genuinely experienced with WordPress across the board: themes, plugins, page builders, custom fields, PHP/CSS/JS where needed, performance, and clean, maintainable setups. Page-builder fluency (Elementor or similar) is useful, but we care about solid WordPress fundamentals first. Fluent with AI tools in your workflow, and knows where they help and where they don't. A clear communicator. You explain what you're doing, flag problems early, and give honest estimates. Transparent about your time. We work on trust, and straightforward, accurate hours matter to us. Someone who wants to become a reliable extension of our team over time, not a one-off freelancer. One thing we're upfront about We want to work directly with the person doing the work. If you're part of an agency, have a team, or plan to hand any of the work to someone else, just tell us clearly from the beginning. We may be completely fine with it — we just need to know who is actually doing the work. Being a silent middleman between us and another developer is a dealbreaker. To apply Keep it simple. No generic Upwork pitch or long cover letter. Send us: A couple of WordPress sites you've actually worked on What your role was on those sites The parts of WordPress you work in most often The AI tools you currently use in your development workflow Your availability and hourly rate If you're part of an agency or work with other developers, let us know who would actually be doing the work. We're looking for a long-term working relationship, so we care more about reliability, clarity, and good work than finding the lowest rate.
