Summary

We are looking for an experienced Magento 1.9 Frontend Developer / E-commerce Website Manager with strong Technical SEO knowledge to manage, maintain and continuously improve an established Singapore e-commerce website: This is intended to be a long-term ongoing position, not a one-time development project. Our website runs on Magento Community Edition 1.9.2.4 and contains New Phones, Used Phones, Phone Trade-In and Repair Service categories. We need someone who can take ownership of the day-to-day management of the website, keep product and trade-in pricing accurate, maintain Magento CMS content, improve frontend performance, monitor website health and continuously improve our organic search visibility. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with a legacy Magento 1.9 installation and understand both the technical and commercial requirements of an e-commerce website. Main Responsibilities 1. New & Used Product Listings and Price Updates Regularly create and update product listings through Magento Admin. We normally add approximately 8–15 new products per month, mainly smartphones and related products from brands including: • Apple • Samsung • OPPO • Xiaomi • HONOR • Google Product information, instructions and priorities will be provided by the owner. The manager will also be responsible for monitoring relevant competitor websites and updating our selling prices when required so that our pricing remains competitive in the Singapore market. You will also add approximately 5 used-phone listings per month, based on product information and pricing supplied by the owner. 2. Trade-In Price & CMS Static Block Management Maintain our phone trade-in section: hitecmobile.com.sg/trade-in-phones The trade-in pages are managed partly through Magento CMS Static Blocks. Responsibilities include adding newly released devices and updating trade-in prices according to the competitor/reference websites specified by the owner. The selected models, storage capacities, variants and trade-in prices must be carefully compared against the reference website. Incorrect trade-in pricing can result in financial loss, so all updates must be checked carefully before publishing. Newly released models should also be added when required. 3. Used Phone Trade-In Category Maintenance Maintain the relevant section under: Magento CMS / Catalog → Manage Categories → Used Phone Regularly review and update used-phone trade-in prices according to the designated competitor/reference websites. The candidate must understand Magento 1.9 category management and be comfortable working with category content, product assignments, URLs and SEO settings. 4. Magento Performance, Security & Website Health Regularly monitor the technical health and performance of the website. Responsibilities include: • Improve website loading speed and Core Web Vitals where reasonably possible on Magento 1.9. • Identify slow pages, oversized images, unnecessary JavaScript/CSS and other frontend performance problems. • Monitor server/storage capacity. • Periodically clear and manage Magento cache correctly. • Check Magento logs for abnormal errors. • Identify broken pages, frontend errors and checkout problems. • Monitor suspicious login attempts, spam and malicious bot activity. • Recommend and implement a suitable malware/security monitoring solution compatible with Magento 1.9. • Keep backups and rollback requirements in mind before making significant changes. • Ensure maintenance work does not unnecessarily interrupt the live website. Because this is a legacy Magento 1.9 website, the successful candidate must understand the additional security risks involved and be able to recommend practical measures to keep the website stable and secure. 5. Technical SEO, Indexation & Canonical Management We need someone who understands technical e-commerce SEO, not someone who only installs SEO extensions. Responsibilities include reviewing Google indexation and preventing low-value or duplicate URLs from wasting crawl resources. This includes reviewing and appropriately handling URLs such as: • Cart and checkout pages • RSS URLs • Search/filter URLs • Parameterised URLs • Duplicate category/product URLs • Other thin or low-value Magento-generated pages Where appropriate, these URLs should be noindexed, canonicalised, redirected or removed from the XML sitemap. The manager should regularly verify: • XML sitemap • Robots directives • Canonical tags • Product canonical URLs • Category canonical URLs • Meta robots • Internal redirects • 404 errors • Broken internal links • Duplicate URLs • HTTP/HTTPS and www/non-www consistency Canonical tags should be correctly implemented on product and category pages to consolidate duplicate URLs and help search engines identify the preferred version of each page. 6. On-Page SEO & Content Quality Regularly review important product, category, trade-in and repair pages for on-page SEO problems. Tasks may include: • Fixing duplicate H1 headings • Ensuring one clear primary H1 where appropriate • Removing unnecessary repeated content • Correcting grammar and formatting • Improving title tags and meta descriptions • Identifying keyword cannibalisation • Improving internal linking • Reducing unnecessarily oversized pages • Consolidating overlapping content • Improving page structure around a clear search intent • Improving product and category page relevance for Singapore searches We want to improve rankings through useful content, good website architecture and sound technical SEO, rather than keyword stuffing or spammy link-building techniques. 7. Improve Website Information Architecture One important SEO project will be to review and gradually restructure the website around our four major revenue pillars: Repairs → Trade-In → Used Phones → New Phones The successful candidate should help us create a logical hierarchy between: Homepage → Main Service/Product Category → Brand → Model → Product/Service Page The objective is to make it easier for both customers and search engines to understand the relationship between our major services and product categories.
